Love how humble he is. Gosh it is hard to not admire a person of his age do what he has done.

The whole F/S debate of it being unfair to other clubs is so far skewed. The effort it takes and dedication to play at the top level of any sport is day in and day out from a young age. No one is assured of success. Its all about the individual. I do believe in Nepotism, (See Bronny James) . Nick is just a generational talent and the hardwork and dedication is his to own , no one else or credit to anyone to get him where he is today.

DTS is now a term i use with my nieces that Nick & Josh were quoted on saying on it to each other growing up, as mentioned on Tom Mitchells podcast. Drive the Standards. Love him!

Hope he can earn a brownlow early in his career also. If he doesnt, who cares. Youd love to see that individual acknowledgement go to him however

Outrageously good season. 700+ disposals and 20 goals, as well as top 3 in clearances and top 5 in contested possessions per game. Outrageous.

Doing this at 21 years old is even more outrageous. For comparison, GAJ didn't reach that 700/20 benchmark until he was 25, in 09. Swan did several times, first when he was 26 in 2010 (he had over 800 disposals...). Pendlebury did so aged 23, in 2011. Dangerfield was 26, in 2016. Martin did so aged 26, in 2017. None of Judd, Fyfe, Neale nor Bontempelli have done it.

Obviously it's a basic look at simple stats, but it is nonetheless rather freakish company to be in.

Heres something I put up on the main board today illustrating how dominant Daicos has been 23/24

Further to what I have written above its irrelevent to me that Daicos wins the award this year. Ist past the post in a field of hundreds with this format doesnt particularly seperate you. It's just a nice gong. If Daicos was 2nd or 3rd or 4th it wouldn't change my view of him.

Next step to get a stronger picture is put 2 years together. This is the 2023-24 totals

Daicos 99+117 = 216 43 games
Bont 102+93 = 195 46 games
Neale 91+97 = 188 45 games
Butters 109+78 = 187 46 games
Serong 86+100 = 186 45 games
Gulden 88+86 = 174 46 games
Cripps 60+113 = 173 44 games
Heeney <60+112 = <172 43 games
Merrett 76+80 = 156 45 games
Anderson 76+68 = 144 46 games

Thats the top 10. Heeney was outside the top 20 last year so got <60 votes but I haven't added them up.

If you go to the AFLCA site and look at the top 20 vote getters each year that they list from 2006 these are the best 2 year totals

Danger 16/17 242 votes
Daicos 23/24 216 votes
Martin 16/17 212 votes
Oliver 21/22 212 votes
Ablett 07/08 197 votes, 08/09 196 votes, 12/13 175 votes
Fyfe 14/15 195 votes
Bont 23/24 195 votes
Swan 10/12 194 votes

Pretty much aligns with who have been the absolute peak mids in the game through those year. Judds just back a bit but his real dynamic years were Eagles years and say Pendles/Mitchell/Selwood etc, mids who are all time greats but never the very top of the tree are just a little further back

Stretch it out over more years and it just rates and rates the elite players. Also makes you see 2nd and 3rd year Daicos as extraordinary.

Some great facts there bud. We all know some of the dolts will say they know better than facts.

Thanks for putting in the work!

That Jeremy Howe bloke is really dogshit at high marking
The haters cheated Jezza out of MOTY, and Josh Daicos out of GOTY.
It wouldn't surprise me to see the same thing happen to Billy/Bobby and Nick.
All the Collingwood hating w***ers.
Nick already has the one that really matters, and will want more.

Why are they all such sooky dickheads about Nick? Its piss weak
He plays for Collingwood, swap Sheezel and Nick around and everyone would be creaming themselves every time Nick plays while Sheezel would be overrated and soft.

The Hate for Nick online is beyond a joke. He’s getting so much abuse for the coaches voting for him. I honestly don’t get it, he’s a fair player and a nice guy. It really is disgusting

Same reason they all hated Buckley and could never bring themselves to give him the proper kudos he deserved which was the best player of his era Bucks > Hird > Voss.

He's a Collingwood player.

It seems to me that a lot of collingwood people didn't give him too many kudos.... they must have been in short supply in those days

Wanganeen and Nigel Smart 2 AA's from their first 3 seasons as well.

Stop! You’ve done enough damage.

He should have picked up 3.
I remember one of the justifications for him missing was that other players had a “greater body of work”. Like apparently being a first year excludes you from AA selection no matter how good your year was.

That didn't help Pendles when he should've been AA a few more times.

Just watched a couple of youtoobs.

I've been watching/going to games since 1976.

He is comfortably the best I've seen already.

The vision is extraordinary, the game summary in an instant is extraordinary, the gut running is extraordinary, the skills are extraordinary, what he's accomplished at such a young age is extraordinary.

He is the Bradman of his age.
