Player Watch #7: Zane Duursma - out for 2024, undergoing shoulder surgery

It’s cause we have no identity as a club, every player at present looks out of place, hopefully the young guys bond during these tough times and stop appearing from the outside as passengers.
The old timer in me says they need a line in the sand game.

That’s a sad sentiment if true, since before the 70’s North was always envied for personality and character.

Shit, even Blakey and Horse used the Shinboner culture as a template to establish bloods culture at Sydney.

I don’t understand how some folks have come to the conclusion that he wants to leave based on nothing but a feeling. We North supporters have a well earned pessimism, I get that, but jeez, this is too much.
We may not have got many big names in the last few years but we certainly don't lose to many players we want to keep either.

Regression to the mean for Zane and Colby.

First JHF f***s us to our face and bails. Huge landscape-changing issue.

Sheezel and Wardlaw then massively over correct by announcing their agreement to stick together at North to build premiership success, and were keen to sign long extensions early. They were also the first draft class to get the first round = 3 years bump.

McKercher and Duursma are a year removed from the panic stations and can just go about their business as normal.

Gut feel is Colby extends Harry-style (shoutout CT) and Duurs might be a bit more modest. I’ll be happy when he can flex at AFL level like he did at juniors and we can see him having a bit more fun.

The only person of note we ever lost in the last 10 years was ice cube nancy pants and we got George in return.

Yes George

The goat Wardlaw

If we drafted George as pick 1 in 2021 and Tarpeboganelade drafted the Cheltenham 7-11 $2 medium slushy pants at pick 3 in 2022 we would have as much interest in slushy vag as ole mate Paddy Dow ahead of LDU.

Everyone take a ****ing chill pill

The kid has taken arguably mark of the year if he played for a so called big 4 club he would have received it

There has been no indication that he would ever leave or wants to leave.

So as a 17yo kid he says when asked a question by a journalist from a corporate AFL media organisation would he like to play in the same side as his big brother?

🤣

What 17yo kid would not say

Yeah nah **** it I hate my brother I wouldn't ever want to play with my older brother

You really think Harry and George give two eighths of three eighths of SFA about melted ice cube 7-11 slushy pants who shat his pants and left crying back to Wo Mamma prior to them being drafted

And then therefore Colby and Zane will be influenced not to re sign two years later on the basis of a pissant they never met

Oh FFS

Really

They'd only say that at home, to each other...

Collective trauma from the JHF departure (serious). I can somewhat relate, though it is pretty irrational.

Yeh have always had this feeling like he's not a long term North person. Can't put my finger on why.

Hopefully just irrational nonsense.
It’s based on absolutely nothing but many of us feel that same way, as evident by this thread. Like a sixth sense we just know something ain’t quite right. Very strange.

Liam Pickering tells a story about Ollie Wines and his dad telling him before the draft that he would be happy to be drafted anywhere except Port Adelaide… ends up captain of the club.

A lot changes once a person gets drafted.

A fair few have put forward this opinion, or something similar. I have. There's something about him. But there's no point in worrying about something that we have no evidence for. If they all get a clear glimpse of what they can become, no one's going to want to leave

Oh it’s completely irrational and all based on a gut feel haha
