For me looking to the 2025 (and 2026) draft I’m looking at gaps in our forecast best 23 for 2028 (e.g. in 4 years time). Obviously a lot of the below is based of potential and development will be huge moving forward.

HB: Trainor, Gibcus, xxxx
B: xxxx , Balta, Brown
C: HRS, Smillie, Campbell
HF: Hotton, Faull, Clarke
F: Rioli, Amstrong, Sims
R: xxxx, xxxx, Lalor
Int: Taranto, xxxx, McAuliffe, Alger,

Looking at this the midfield still needs players, out number 1 ruckman (this could always be a traded target in future), small defenders.

2025
Dyson Sharp - midfield grunt
Oliver Greeves - midfield
Fred Rodriguez - midfield outside speed and skill

2026
Cody Walker (dream scenario) - Midfield class, NGA prospect, will have to beat Carlton F/S so unlikely
Tanner Armstrong - small forward/defender, NGA prospect

I would be trying to front load contacts as much as possible, even using pick purchasing (if it comes in) to maximise salary caps over the next 3 years. I would then target free agents in 2027, this could work in our favour if a number of players line up contracts with Tasmania entering the competition.

Still got to have Mansell, was our best small forward this year other than Shai and only 24. I'm hoping they trial Banks down back to give us some run out of defence or Judson once he's recovered.

Sharp is a bulldozer. See ball and beat opponent to ball. Greeves more skilled, strong mark up forward.


Think he averaged 8 in the seniors this year.

Last year in the 16's he went 37 disposals and 5 tackles a game. Think I've read he's been focused on his defensive game this year rather than just racking up the footy.

Beast.

The Lalor pick could also be a bit of forward projection by Blair and co thinking of guys like Sharp.

Not to say we didn't rank him 1st but as a bonus Lalor can easily sit up forward and impact period of games while Sharp and Smilie dominate the mids. Not many of the top prospects that were picked can do that.
