FFS.

A fast bowler carrying a muscle injury, misses one match (where his replacement performed brilliantly and the team won) then, off a minimal time until the next match, they pick the injured bloke.

Sure Hazelwood has been a good player but if he was less than 100% then it's as much on him as it is on the selectors.

The Australian selectors are the opposite of George Costanza. George made good decisions by going against his own natural thoughts. The Australian selectors make bad decisions by going against any possible good decisions.
Might open the door for Boland for Boxing Day. If Hazelwood skipped Brissy, he probably forces him out of his home test.

Granted he had a period where he was in and out with soft tissue stuff but prior to this he hasn't missed tests for a couple of years due to injury.
Boland was nearly first choice after the world test champs final but then the poms teed off on him at the start of the Ashes and he hasn't had a look in since

yep spot on. Carse is bowling 130kph when he was regularly in the mid 140's in the first 2 tests
Poms played some unbelievable cricket this series, but they had a fair bit of good fortune . But hey fortune favour's the brave !. ie Brook had more lives than Liz Taylor's had husbands, then chops the ball on first ball this test.

Crawley averages 30 after 55 tests..so surely he's on borrowed time. I'd think of opening with Bethell who looks a really talented young batsmen who's coming in at 3 anyway.

On NZ's side. sad to see Southee go, but to be honest he's probably played 18 months too long. At his best was a very clever medium pacer. But its time and we have some replacements. Will O'Rourke the quick has got oodles of talent. Got clocked at 149kmh in the poms first dig and gets really awkward bounce. Reminds me of Steve Harmison who was a really good quick on his day. and Matt Henry would have to win an award as one of the most improved cricketers going round over the last 2-3 years. Really good bowler now.
Nice one KiwiRoo, great post mate and well done to the Kiwis a team I always admire. For a small country you cant help but be impressed taking it up to the bigger more fancied sides. I always love watching them play cricket the way it should be played.
I think after today I want to add Pope to the Crawley and Bashar (not to be selected again for a while) group.
Pope's shot today was just ridiculous. As the great David Gower said in commentary he only had 2 words to say 'why" and goodbye".
That Bethell looks a real talent.

Anyone else find cricinfo unbearable? The commentary team outright cheers for India. It’s a shame the commentary on the cricket Australia site is so piss poor - whoever decided they should use the word “dropped” for when a played blocks the ball should be fired, awful to read.
It's always been that way.

watching the big bash tonight while looking occasionally at the cricinfo commentary, multiple occasions they are just plain wrong in what they describe each ball to be

Who remembers when Lloyd took 8 fa in the Under 19s World Cup against England, had long flowing hair and looked like a ranga Paddlepop lion.

Edit, he bowled Harry Brook for a golden duck.
Thought we had our next Warney. Shouldn't be playing in the bash and certainly shouldn't be bowling the 19th over. He's still young and leg spin is an unforgiving art, he should be playing grade cricket, bowling lots of overs and building his confidence. He'll be tossing and Turning tonight thinking he's not good enough. Hate watching a young leggy's confidence disappear.
