I am almost certain Chris will go Angus Clarke for this one, which I think would be a great pick.
There are also some pretty decent tall backmen on the board as well. And Gerreyn whom I really rate.
There should be some really good options around pick 30 (Gerreyn from West Perth comes to mind that meets all of your requirements at around that pick) but it seems clear that we are sticking with Odin Jones who is also that kind of player, whilst also doing some balancing of the list.
According to the masterplan on page 66 (see Fremantle Oval Masterplan) the anticipated costs are:
Stage 1: $45M for enabling works; predominantly realigning the oval to allow for housing (two buildings of about 6 floors in height)
Stage 1b: $100M sports facilities, $20M community facilities...
I think we will wait like a vulture waiting for some teams to make a "mistake" and also we may hear offers from others as well to trade the pick down. I expect that Richmond in particular will probably start to go more a "needs" (or for a better term: a spread of positions) basis rather than...
In the national draft, or including the rookie draft?
For mine, the national draft I am expecting definitely:
Allan, Gerreyn, Davis
The these players will most likely get taken either in the national draft or rookie draft.
Champion, Urquhart, Hayes
And two of these I am guessing will get...
Those three plus Shanahan - those I believe are the ones we have interviewed multiple times, and unlike some other clubs, when we interview multiple times, that is normally a good sign of who is of interest to us and there is normally a good correlation to who we will pick unless someone who was...
IMO Murphy is not a Pearce replacement; the big thing that he lacks is speed of the mark.
Murphy is good in the air and useful with ball in hand on the rebound coupled with being 200cm, (once he has some size) he would suit lumbering Ruck-Forward types but the faster key forwards that some...
I see him landing just over pick 20. His explosion off the mark (2.88 seconds for 20m is elite stuff and it plays out on the footy field as well), lateral movement and evasion is/was fantastic but his kicking was average / below average for mine and lack of any size or consistent ball winning...
Lots of other players around that mark that have the first three. In terms of crosses, the lack of possession winning would count against him a fair bit - you are just not getting a AFL ready midfielder compared to a lot of others out there. Also he is not the most useful kick right at the...
If we could get him with that pick 60/70ish (or whatever our last pick in the ND is) that we have that would be great IMO.
I have to say though that the things I like about him are also the same things I liked with Conrad Williams.
I also wonder if Bizzell is still of interest to us as a Cat B...
For mine, we are in that stage in our list we you just draft quality on any line with whatever you pick. Quality backup is underrated; having guys like Pearce and Tracy fall to injury this season and not having a certain level of replacement was probably the difference to missing the finals.
A...
Jayden Pitt was taller and a better kick (55m+ kick with very good accuracy). On paper he was also faster than Berry, although I think Berry's awareness in traffic is better - they have a similar running gait though.
No not necessarily - so long as we are not over-emphasizing a particular type of player or home state.
I think the order in which people through that part of the draft will come across as a bit random because of the eveness of the talent, and location and positional needs of individual teams...
From a tactical perspective we should be focussed to see if there is any other immediate (I've. During the trade period) interest for pick 10 or 11 from other clubs; the downside of that is that having one of those picks will be more valuable as an in-draft trade than through the trade period...
IMO less than 2.95 is outstanding for a midfielder, less than 3 for a tall is outstanding for them. Close to 3 for a midfielder is sort of par; anything worse is sort of a deficiency.
We have just had the first premiership coach to have never played an AFL/VFL game in Chris Fagan as further proof that playing achievements aren't a necessity to be a good coach; it can work if he is up to it.
I mean, the sprint didn't exactly seem like a serious thing; they had players/runners who had left the line before they had even pulled the trigger. Sharp was having a good old laugh at the race finish, congratulating the other players and looking very happy about the whole thing.
Well it's over for another year. I was expecting GWS to win at the start of the year; they got close, a bit like we got close to making the finals but didn't.
It was probably the tightest competition in my memory; almost 13 teams were still in it with three rounds to go. 8 games in I thought...
I think that's the key thing to take into consideration; peoples opinion on Allan would change if they had seen all the draftees in the same bracket being talked about play. Also take into consideration the biases of geography and the type of player versus the gaps in our list come into it when...
Sorry I went overboard.
I have a sympathy for (and bias towards) Peel after seeing some of the early shenanigans that East Freo and other clubs were involved in trying to knee cap Peel behind the scenes from the very start of its existence compared to some of the hope it has given some...
By that reasoning, should Bo Allan also not have played, because he will be an AFL listed player next year and could "potentially become a dominant AFL player"?
As freo_leo29 said, it is hard sell to say that either are about to become dominant AFL players; they both spent way more time in the...
Allan's runs through and out of congestion are his most eye-catching aspect but I feel like he just puts the boot to ball before even half considering what / where / how and wastes the advantage he has created for himself by bombing blindly; he plays like a backman who is just trying to clear...
I can see what you are saying (agree with the weaknesses) but who else in our team has that combo of endurance+speed and is really good at keeping space? For me that is the difference from Brodie; he had competition on all sides. Sharp on the other hand is almost built for this team, despite...
O'Driscoll ran all day, linked up a lot and won some good one on ones, and kicked a great goal from the boundary to probably seal it. Also tackled with ferocity (6 tackles). Won 29 possessions. On the flip side I thought he bombed it quite a lot instead of lowering his eyes.
Erasmus stood up...
