There's a lot of Gliderol on it. I mean, a LOT of Gliderol on it. But, with the black shorts and almost no white to be seen at all, it still looks mint I reckon.
Something to do with that being Glenelg's first premiership jumper sometime last century.
The regular home jumper is much better. And with a richer yellow and a yellow rather than white number (no back sash), currently better than Richmond's.
Just watched the SANFL Grand Final. Lifelong Bays supporter.
Glenelg by 5 points against Norwood. Best on Ground, Liam McBean with seven goals. Dominated as a key forward. Get him back!
Fingers crossed, but a combination of more freedom of action (Rioli moving on) and Lynch, Lefau and/or Balta in the forward line (facilitated by Gibcus returning to full back) may see Short back to somewhere near his best of four years ago.
I know a lot has to go right but, given what's...
He will be fine once he returns to his preferred role. He has looked completely out of sorts since Dan Rioli was sent into that backline sweeper position. I think Short will benefit mightily from a lot of the changes.
This is a very good point.
I would be stunned if we drafted any more than seven. Anyone we would draft after that would be unlikely ever to get a shot.
Which means three players will have to come from somewhere else. Interesting to consider who would be prepared to come across. They would...
I noticed something about Koschitzke's game on the weekend that I hadn't noticed before.
For a forward, he spends way too much time focused on what his direct opponent is doing, rather than just going at the ball.
At times against Gold Coast, it was like he was the defender rather than the...
I feel like we need to keep one of Rioli or Baker (just one) and clean out every other player who wants out. I’m not a fan of culling all your experience but Taranto and Hopper are still there. Bolton and Graham may fill needs at Freo and/or West Coast but they aren’t much use to us anymore.
The overall effort was actually pretty decent. Execution less so.
The midfield (including Nank) did okay against possibly the best in the competition.
Without Lynch, the forward line is the worst in the league.
Balta is an A-grade defender moonlighting as a C-grade forward.
The link up in the...
The four carlton goals that followed McKay’s non-mark wasn’t a lack of skill. It was a lack of focus and discipline, or more simply, a lack of on-field leadership.
If there was a way an umpire would arseh*le us against carlton, you know they’d find it. Doesn’t justify the lack of focus over the past 15 minutes but still…
There’s always one gun opposition midfielder who torches us. One of our young midfielder needs to be be trained as a run with player. We don’t really have one.
He's fine at this stage.
Type of player who will improve with size and age.
Not every midfielder needs to be a great kick, but you do need to be elite at handball if you aren't.
I think needs a month in the AFL to find his feet at the level.
Decoy forward, back-up ruck, up-the-ground target. He only needs to be adequate at each to be useful.
Frankly, at this stage we've got nothing to lose.
The criticisms of Young and Miller are unfair. Given the quantity, quality and speed of the ball coming out of the centre, even Rance and Astbury at their best would have had limited impact.
Yes, it can be done. A couple of father-sons who had an immediate impact helped them a lot. But it can be done.
Our draft picks from the past three or four years are only just starting to get meaningful game time. Our decent 24-27 year old players are mostly out through injury (or just came back...
Okay, it's bleak. For sure.
But a couple of thoughts.
1. The Dogs are flat track bullies. Beating up on struggling teams by 10 goals or more and then melting as soon any heat is applied is kind of their brand.
2. Even one of Baker, Hopper, Taranto or Ross would have made a considerable...
I don't see any real reason for playing Pickett anymore.
Perhaps. He had a few good clearances. Is obviously too small but is one player who would surely gain a lot from having even one of Taranto, Hopper or Ross in the side. You can have one player his size in the midfield mix, but not three.
I wish we could.
Put every injured (or sore) player who needs it into rehab and just call the season.
Dow, Sonsie, HRS, Young and MRJ all showed signs they deserve to be persevered with, but that's about the only spin I can put on it.
You know what I'm really excited about?
It's rivalry round! All the teams get to play their greatest rivals!
All year I've been looking forward to taking on our great historic rivals, Fremantle!
What a storied fixture this is every year.
Just love have the AFL treats us with so much respect...
