So 5 strong teams, 5 weak teams, games will be ok when the bottom 5 play amongst themselves and the top 5 play amongst themselves. Like I said, good comp.
You make a fair point, especially now considering promotion/relegation is in play. If they assembled their current squad to play in the division they were previously in, they most likely would have won promotion the following season anyway, and would have been able to further bolster their...
I think she would have won even if she stayed on her feet so its not an issue to me. I see it all the time, people full of lactic lunging on the line overbalancing and falling. Its always more of a fall than a dive.
I truly believe she lunged at the line and over-balanced due to being absolutely spent. That is entirely possible as the 400m is the most brutal event on the track.
Or a Hockeyroos, Kookaburras, Men's Rugby 7's, Stingers, Sharks.... think I have them all covered. Not saying they all should have won gold or even medals, but gee they all definitely under-achieved.
I think Lithuania being the bogey team they are for us will refocus the group and have them coming out hard with zero complacency. Not that I think they would be complacent in an Olympic quarter finals, but a complacency disease seems to be spreading through our Olympic team at the moment.
Yep I was expecting Mitchell to outperform Rubie but I wasn't expecting miracles. Mitchell's heat was very good, but I think she panicked in the semi and will cost her. She's only 21 and will learn a lot from that, hopefully it makes her hungrier for the future. Is still pretty green when it...
In reference to you guys being suss about Van Niekirk, I'm guessing a lot of you guys only watch the track and field once every four years which is understandable. At last year's world champs, Van Niekirk went close to breaking the WR, and was so spent afterwards he was taken to hospital and...
I like Chepkoech to cause an upset in the women' Steeplechase. Her heat win was excellent, and although she may have to run more than a 10s PB to do so, I think you'll find Jebet will go far too quick our front on her own and be a sitting duck in the final lap. She's a 4:03 1500m runner and...
Yeah wanted to spend as much time with Philadelphia which I understand and long term is the right call. He would be a valuable asset to the team, but I don't see him being the difference between winning and losing at this stage of his career. I have little doubt in 4 years time he will be the...
You sound like you're Ben's mum, hi Ben's mum. I wasn't hammering him sweety, I was just saying that he might not be as effective as some think he would because of the fact he would be getting hammered by some pretty big, powerful guys every time he touches the ball.
While I wouldn't say overawed, the physicality of it may put him off his game slightly. I'm not saying he's soft, just it would be hard to make the adjustment during the tournament. In 4 years he should be near unstoppable at this level.
Looking forward to Mitchell running in the 400m. Looks primed for this and while I don't think she'll make the final, should progress through to the Semis easily and run a strong race there. Lacaze and Hills could both make the final of the Steeplechase.
So Schooling goes to school and college in the USA, I think that says something and maybe should be something our young 18-22 year old swimmers start looking at.
