I think we tried pretty hard to cut him loose. but it was just a terrible time to cut him loose. i.e. to Geelong who had already committed to Bailey Smith and no other picks.
he'll be fit for round 1 because he was unfit all of last year and we still played him because he's a jet and him at 50% is still much better than a 100% fringe player. But I do think it sets a bad standard for the playing group.
it's good that he's back but you absolutely should be paying attention to the shape that he's in because if he was professional he would've arrived back ripped.
you don't have to wait until preseason starts before training.
haha, yeah. I said, we will know at the start of pre-season what season he is in for. He's had enough time to lose the weight. He could've lose the 8kg (as an estimate) since the end of the season with dieting.
Ok, I've seen enough. Oliver came back to pre-season training grossly out of shape. Yes, still in better shape than last season but grossly out of shape none the less which shows that he hasn't been putting in the work. He's got 4 months to lose 6-8kg but I don't see it happening. Not looking...
Dees are in a great spot. If Adel go up and take Jagga and north take Tauru then Dees will get Fos or Draper, assuming we don't go for something left field like Bo Allen
you could be right. but then why would you want him? Like, if he doesnt perform, you wouldn't want him. If he does perform, he'll cost you multiple firsts and 1.3m. So either way, your statement falls through.
Oliver: 3 x AA's, 4 x Bnf's, 2 x AFL Coaches Awards.
Bailey Smith: Nothing.
Oliver has been a champion for 8 years, not 5. He won the BnF in his 2nd season. In his 2nd season, he averaged 29.9 touches, almost 7 tackles and 12 Brownlow votes. Oliver doesn't need people around him, not sure where...
Oliver has been one of the best trainers for many years. Don't let recency bias cloud your judgement.
You don't get the accolades and awards he's won without being incredibly dedicated.
lol. you're not going to get Oliver for a packet of chips. That's very naive. You were either going to be paying the majority of his expensive contract or paying up in draft picks. You gave up a first rounder for Bailey Smith and he carries the same amount of risk given his off field behaviours...
What's needs got to do with anything?
Yeah, his impact on games is the main question but the physical traits he showed were so high end that you could argue that he's the most athletic guy in the draft. at least in terms of vertical leap. And his foot skills were decent enough. Darcy Moore...
if he was mentally shot why were/are you guys frothing over getting him to your club?
You very well may be right. But I think it's far too premature. He's a champion of the game. And he's been one of the most professional and dedicated trainers for many years. You don't get to his level without...
then the afl will step in and find ways to get the bottom clubs back up there though. whether it be priority picks (like north) or deciding to give pick 8 for Battle to St.Kilda. Or changing the nga rules to give Mac Andrew to the struggling suns. The AFL always find a way.
how come?
Initially I heard high praise of Kalani White a couple of years ago. And then the whispers were that he really wasn't that good and since then there really hasn't been much news.
But then I saw him play on a game that was streamed a few months ago and I was very impressed. Super...
if he's clean and motivated, back to being the best mid in the comp. it's one or the other, imo. A massive pre-season is due, but we'll know based on the condition he arrives at on day 1 of pre-season.
and then changing the rules just after Brisbane have fully cashed in on the inequality further disadvantages the other clubs.
And the afl media are fully gagged but it's the biggest blight on the game today.
1. Why are you explaining the priority pick system for me. I'm a dees fan. I know how they work. If the dogs wanted to come last and win under 5 games for several years to get Ugle-Hagan I could live with that. Getting him at a massive discount when a fair system wouldn't even give them access...
You don't get priority picks for free. You've got to be one of the worst teams in the league to get them. So literally the opposite to getting them for free.
The Saints may not have had much father-son success but they've been very fortunate with NGA's.
The dogs never paid fair price for...
because Daicos would've gone 1. Just because the bid doesn't come until later doesn't mean that clubs don't rate them at 1. Because the club with the number 1 pick wants their player to feel loved. Exact reason why Tigers won't nominate Ashcroft. I wouldn't have thought this needed explaining...
So the dogs bid on Darcy Moore at pick 5. In a fair system, he goes to the bulldogs and the Pies would have a choice between Duggan, Peter Wright, Ahern, Corey Ellis, Lachie Weller, Marchbank, Cockatoo, Lever, Garlett and Durdin. So the chances are that they are going to pick a spud. Not...

Incorrect. Libba was rated higher than Wallis by some clubs and Wallis was bid with Port's first round pick. So fair to say Libba would've been taken well ahead of pick 40 and wouldn't be at the dogs.
Sam Darcy I agree with. But his form...
I get what you're saying. You've just picked out 1 player though. You'd need to find replacements for 4 players. Daicos x 2, Moore and Quaynor.
And the dogs you need to find 3 replacements for Ugle-hagan, Sam Darcy and Liberatore. it's simply not going to happen to find 3.
I'm pretty...
I honestly didn't read past the first sentence. If you didn't recall him being particularly bad then you were probably watching a different game. It was impossible not to notice.
Yes they do. It's safe to say that Collingwood are significantly worse without Daicos x 2, Moore and Quaynor. And the dogs are significantly worse without Juh and Sam Darcy.
Not to mention Fletcher who has been handy. I believe that have another also?
Collingwood had Nick Daicos, Josh Daicos, Darcy Moore and Quaynor all gifted to them under rules I've never agreed with.
Where would the dogs be without Ugle-hagan and Sam Darcy etc.? bottom 8 imo. Basically this...
I'll never embrace inequality in the afl. Like flags don't even mean anything anymore. Who was in last year's granny? Brisbane and Sydney? who won the granny the year before? Collingwood. None of these teams are getting close to a flag without their f/s or academy picks.Sydney and Coll wouldn't...
