It can change very quickly.....in theory. But real world, it has remained the same for the last 25 years so and if 2024 is any indication it looks like it will remain so for the foreseeable future.
It's just a wild season.
Sydney was pumped by Port Adelaide late in the H&A
Geelong smashes Port in the finals at Adelaide Oval
Sydney destroyed Geelong midseason at the SCG
GWS and Port beat Geelong at GMHBA mid-season
GWS have lost their last 3 games
GWS beat Brisbane 4 rounds ago and Sydney...
I think it’s the lack of kgs around the ball and our intercept/counter game getting blunted. When Geelong has played wet “territory” type games they’ve been ground down. The one exception being Brisbane but they lost their ruckman 10 minutes into the game and were stuck with Daniher having ruck...
I'm aware it happened. Just like I'm aware there was a Roman Empire and ancient Greece. My lived experience.....not so dry. Not sure about the floaters you speak of, is that another reference to the 60's or some other bygone era?
Fair chance. I think when push comes to shove he'll have a few offers and will be weighing up the role he's give and likelihood of success. To be honest I'd have Hawthorn as favourite but Saints not a bad proposition.
At his reported contract I'd be expecting either a Bowes or Ablett type deal. Bulldogs covering a chunk of his salary or throw in something to get us to take on his salary.
Gotcha, that makes sense. I'm actually not to worried about McCrae and his age/ability to play but I appreciate it wasn't presented that way. I was thinking more along the lines that solutions to our midfield problems have emerged from this time last year and that we're pretty well stocked...
Not so sure about that. If memory serves me correct we were stuck with a very stagnate style and had been exploring Parsons on the wing. Isaac Smith as a left foot runner and ball carrier had a consensus of him being a breath of fresh air. Who else other than Duncan were wing options....Blicavs?
.
I swear you aren't even reading the posts.
I literally mentioned that maybe he's a year or two behind developmentally than Lynch was and compared Neale now/next year to Lynch's 3rd/4th year.
2-21.....be real.
He surely means missing the finals two years in a row. It's happened twice since the 80's but those years in the wilderness were dark days indeed. Nothing like Richmond of course, but we just aren't used to that sort of pain. I'm not sure we could take it.
Simply a year too late.
Going into this year he might have been handy but too much has changed:
Guthrie is on the mend with 1 year contract left
Danger wants two more
Smith is a likely inclusion
Holmes/Bowes/Bruhn had breaking out years
Stewart has position flex as a midfielder now
Clark is a...
I still think off the pace two days ago doesn't mean off the pace in two weeks time. And you really don't have any idea of what his training load was leading up into the game. He could have been smashing himself and entering the game with pretty heavy legs, or still ramping things up with only a...
No doubt, I did reference to early opportunities Lynch got.
But I still think Neale is very much Lynch like minus a bit of the football education. Stylistically, I think they are very similar and Lynch really broke out in his 4th season going from a less than 1 goal per game player to a 2.1...
Conway was really good but blew up about 5 minutes into a quarter and has had a concerning injury run. I’m more confident in De Konning but he’s a bit laconic and could use a bit more fire as a ruckman.
100%
And in line with the jump Tim Kelly made year two I don’t think Mannagh is the finished product just yet. He might only play 100 games in his career given the late start but I reckon games 20-75 he’ll go up another gear. He’s still acclimating.
I reckon he’s Tom Lynch with a better tank. Lynch got a lot of opportunities early in his career in a bad Suns team but really wasn’t much good until his 4th season. He looks the part now.
I'm not sure Maloney had actually cemented his place but he was certainly highly rated and on his way. From memory Josh Hunt and someone else (Can't remember who) where also floated. At any rate, that was kind of my point, Knevitt is more expendable than Maloney was and we were happy to make...
It's two weeks training/match sim isn't it? And then the Grand Final is two weeks after that. I still think he's an underdog to play and I don't disagree with the sentiment but a hard two weeks on the track could see a pretty significant jump in fitness and it's pretty rare that a sub plays more...
