Why would they need to change? Reversible jumpers are an easy thing these days. Just have an alternate design and turn them inside out when playing Castlemaine.
It may have looked ok but was absolute slop out there from mid July to mid August. Redan not making finals saved it a bit so it was in good nick for the Grand Finals, but even the earlier junior finals in late August the goal squares to CHF were soft as.
I went to both CHFL & BFNL Grand Finals...
But then would those clubs meet the bar for promotion? And if they do, they can choose to stay at the level they are or go up.
Modification to the previous promotion / relegation provisions:
If the last placed club in the higher division wants to be relegated, and the first placed club in the...
Which is why it’s a high bar to be promoted, and the choice is there to take the opportunity or not. The divisions create the even comps.
And as for extra travel, it’s not just the clubs that travel, it’s the umpires also. A larger geographic area would require them to travel more, and be less...
That’s somewhat arse about thinking. Merging major & district leagues in a geographic area allows clubs, whole clubs, to find their level and be competitive, without excessive travel. I see on these boards laments about massive inequalities within leagues. This could help with this.
With all the discussion regarding which clubs could fit into which leagues, I’ve had some thoughts on a complete overhaul.
Whilst I post this in the Bendigo forum, as it’s the most active, it could be applied to other regions of the state.
Apologies about formatting, the dot points have been...
That actually happened in an overseas league, but for the reason that the club in question was 2 hours away from the nearest other club, so the others couldn’t get enough players to go.
They made finals due to the points gained with forfeits, then were embarrassed on the park.
They’ve since...
Only just thawed out.
First time at a CHFL grand final since 2004. Northern Oval was better when you could back the work ute up the fence and sit in a camp chair, rather than freezing your nads off in a soulless grandstand.
Using the food outlets rather than the North Canteen was also an issue...
Many players and supporters tend to think that all the AFL laws apply to their level. I can’t speak for Bendigo League here, but others I witness will have players and/or supporters appealing for insufficient intent or deliberate rushed behinds, neither of which apply in the other leagues I’m...
The problem is that the player with the ball is clearly moving off the line of the mark, the player standing on the mark can see it, and moans at the umpire, but the field umpire is in a position side on, as they are coached to be, and can’t see it, so the play on call is delayed.
Four umpire...
It’s not right. I felt for the juniors in the Elimination finals 5v8. Finishing 8th in a 13 team league means you’re not near the standard of the better teams. To see a team not score for 3.5 quarters, and only score once the 5th place team had stopped playing, was heartbreaking.
Natte finished top, so they have the chance to get an extra day before the Grand Final surely? Had Harcourt defeated Trentham in the Qualifying Final, they’d be playing Sunday.

Some very poor parenting going on there the past two weeks though. Walking with babies through the middle of ongoing matches, absolutely terrible.
The council should have got the plovers removed.

Can you rely on scoreboards, manual or done via a computer to put it up on a screen anyway?
Most places with screens, it’s the timekeepers that are doing it, and they’ve got an important job to do without updating a live internet scoreboard as well. And how many times do you see the goal umpires...
If I was an 17-18 year old kid who got flogged every week, I’d be somewhat reluctant to get out of bed to drive an hour for a nothing 10th v 11th match too.
Redan v Melton South U/19 off as well.
Don’t know which one forfeited, but my understanding is that both were struggling to get a side out.

No score from either team in the last quarter. Reckon there were more smothers in one game of football today than I’ve seen in all the games I’ve watched in the last two years!
