Already going to be **** all people there because no one knows its on, but there is all big **** off storms forecast for the afternoon which will keep even more people away even if they've passed by start time.
What is your evidence that Head would be better opening in red ball cricket in Australia? Or are you just guessing too on account of Head not having opened in FC cricket in Australia either?
53, 67, 117 and 6 in his 2 previous shield matches at the end of last season too
137, 0 (howler of an umpiring decision, so forgive), 52, 40, 53, 49, 62, and 51 in List A cricket since the start of last season. Could do worse than give him a run at 3 in the ODI side between the champions trophy...
What about McSweeney's technique is poor? Genuinely curious to hear what you have to say about it, you are the only person I have ever seen question his technique at all and somehow you have come to the conclusion that it's poor. Very strange that basically no one has questioned his technique at...
Half of our last 15 test openers were not "specialist openers". The "specialist opener" thing is a myth, if you have a good technique, know where your off stump is and have the slightest bit of patience most good top 4 batsman can move it in to the opener role. Langer, Katich, Watson etc
Stop listening to shit Ed Cowan podcasts and making your opinions from that please. McSweeney has averaged 80 in FC cricket since February. He also bats 3 which is a top order bat not a middle order bat.
I listened, I listened to the entire podcast and not just a 90 second clip on twitter or X or whatever it's called. It was one of the worst and most ill-informed podcasts I can remember listening to. Cowan exposed himself as a guy making opinions despite the fact he clearly doesn't watch...
Listened to this whole podcast the other day, it was dreadful. Cowan completely exposed himself as someone who has watched absolutely zero domestic cricket recently. The amount of things that him and Middlemas spouted that simply were not accurate was mindblowing. Mugs
He'll be primed if he has a couple good shield seasons to come in for Usman after the Ashes next season. Chances are Head is going to open in the tests in SL at the start of next year considering how well he opening in India last BGT, so realistically we just need someone to hold their own this...
He wouldn't be the first person that just can't go to the next level despite dominating at a lesser level. Some players just have a mental edge which allows them to step up to the next level despite perhaps been less talented, half the battle in cricket is in your head.
Well, it's 4 matches now. Absolutely nothing moronic about not picking a guy that has made 29 runs in his last 8 innings, he is absolutely cooked right now. Could genuinely be a case for him to not be picked in the next WA shield match considering Fanning and Goodwin both came in last week and...
Great innings from Lovell. Hasn't stopped batting for about 2.5 weeks lol, 250no in the 2nds match a couple weeks back, 100 in the Premier Cricket One Day Final last weekend and now a big shield ton.
Aside from how patient and damn well he knows where his off stump is facing the quicks, my favourite thing about watching McSweeney bat in this match is how comfortable he has looked facing some pretty good quality spinners. Quick feet, picks the length very quickly, no ****ing around when he...
Last 8 shield innings he has made scores of 55, 67, 117, 6, 55, 127no, 37 and 72 plus a knock of 137 in a One Dayer last week. There has been a bit to be excited about from his recently looking past this single innings.
Batted to the match situation given they were 3 for **** all and obviously learned from the mistakes of the other batsman throughout the day that were driving and playing in front of their body and getting caught. Left everything he could and played under his eyes when he had to play, hopefully...
37 is a higher average than all of Marnus, Head and Harris had when they first debuted. Career averages aren't everything, especially considering McSweeney's are still decently skewed by the handful of games for Qld when he was 18 and nowhere near ready for shield cricket. Averaging 50 from his...
Will be interested to see if they let McSweeney open in at least one of the A matches, which might be hard to do with all Harris, Bancroft and Konstas playing. You'd think if they were serious about him potentially opening that they would give him a chance to in that series.
Problem is, he has always been like that at the lower levels. Just one of the many players that could never take it to the next level. He had plenty of chances at WA and SA and couldn't cut it.

The big test now is to avoid the 2nd season syndrome that always seems to happen to a lot of young batsman. There will be proper plans in place from all teams to exploit any technical shortcomings that there may be. Hasn't looked good at all this season so far.
