List Mgmt. Hawk's List Management for 2025

Trade time: target's club says they want CJ in the trade package with a top pick/s. Could be Reid, could be a King brother, Oscar Allen, whoever... We're not saying no to that. MM looks over the stats, the huge number of options to play the same roles, the unreliable history. ...and he will...

Let's check on how many players have been traded 12 months after signing extensions... A lot can change in 12 months.

"every time he is fit" Yeah, for 6 weeks every season. Great. If our priority is to get Harley Reid this season, CJ is one of a number of players we should strongly consider moving on if he can't improve on his availability. CJ, Lewis, Ward... all of these guys have something to prove this...

great call. MacDonald has got the potential to become match winner. He will learn a lot from the Port final.

That's as good as any forward line in the league. People are sleeping on Sicily as a forward. He is an incredible footballer who settled into defence first, not merely a defender. We saw evidence of this every time he went forward last season, to say nothing of his highlights as a skinny youngster.

    ## Difference Between Stress Fracture and Stress Reaction in the Lower Back Stress Reaction A stress reaction is an early stage of bone injury characterized by micro-failures in the bone due to repetitive loading without adequate recovery. This condition manifests as inflammation on the...

I think they're all going to be top 50 players in the league at some point. I wanted Duursma and Curtin bc "good small forwards can be found anywhere". Did not fully appreciate the level he would hit so fast. He's basically doing the same things from U18 level against grown men.

Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn : Calsher Dear! Rising star nom!

Honestly, if you can't see that we have options to cover Dear, you're being overly pessimistic. I'd happily play Sicily KPF. Battle and Weddle can rotate through the forward line as needed. The rest of the players I named need to earn it through BH form. Yes, we know they are unproven. Obvious...

List Mgmt. Hawk's List Management for 2025

Lewis' ability is known. But if he's missing so many games, we're still talking potential to deliver on that ability. Sorry, I just can't separate availability from ability after 8 seasons. That's plenty of data, and he's had time to deliver on both, but Lewis just hasn't done that. He's...

Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn : Calsher Dear! Rising star nom!

I've been saying... Sicily is the Ace in the pack for us. Hopefully Scaife gets a run too. I don't think we will skip a beat tbh. We're stacked in defence and have good options to play forward. Dear's injury is not the end of the world. Young, tall players can often develop stress fractures in...

List Mgmt. Hawk's List Management for 2025

I realise my position is not consensus atm, but it is rational. Lewis needs to put in a solid stretch of form in the second half of this season. If he gets another 6 week injury, that will force Mitchell to use other options that might prove more reliable and productive. I don't understand how...

List Mgmt. Hawk's List Management for 2025

We lose Lewis quite often as it is. No doubt about his potential, but it's 7-8 seasons now... "Fresh start" on the cards if we see Dear develop further, Scaife show some promise, and Sicily/Battle push forward.

    Sicily and Scaife.

CJ, Lewis, and Ward. I like them all, but we could move them all on in the next trade period without feeling the loss. Ward is the one I'd most like to keep. Lewis and CJ fit for 20+ games is a fantasy at this point. I wish it was not the case. We'd have won the premiership last season.
  18. The Chad and I

List Mgmt. Hawk's List Management for 2025

There is something special about him. There is also something awkward about him. I'd love to see him play as a HFF tbh. He plays both taller than his height in the contest, and smaller when the ball hits the ground. Combine that with his running, and he's a difficult match-up.

Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn : Calsher Dear! Rising star nom!

23 H&A games +3 finals = 26 games x 1.5 goals a game (Dear's 2024 average) = Calshier would get 39 goals next season on his current form line. That's not even improving on his 2024 goals per game average. Calshier is gonna get +40 goals next season. EASILY!

Love it. Box squats - never understood why people do them tbh. I prefer a full ROM squat, but I don't do things like splits or bulgarian squats very often. I'm sure I've seen the players do a lot of that or similar exercises, which is probably better for stabilisers, groin conditioning, and...

No chance as a mid in our team. Great in close, but defensive liability on the spread. I could see him becoming a tall HFF though (gunston type), and he'd get to some stoppages in that role too.

Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn : Nick 'the Wizard' Watson! Rising star Nom!

There was a time when most top teams would have a gun small defender who could shut down the best small forwards, but those days are long gone and there are very few in the competition that can match the Wiz.

Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn : Calsher Dear! Rising star nom!

You can get 30% stronger in a few months and look more or less the same, no probs at all. People confuse the bodybuilder look of bigger, pumped up muscle mass for improved strength, power, and conditioning.

Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn: Noah Mraz!

Mraz is a great propsect. Kicking is a bit loose, but I presume all of the footage is from his underage year or very early in the season? Great signs that he's already put on a lot of muscle. It's going to be hard getting a debut next season, but it sure gives us some flexibility with list...

We're going all the way next season. Potentially 25 games.

Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn : Calsher Dear! Rising star nom!

I am very bullish on Dear if he stays fit. He did extremely well as an underdeveloped KPP. I expect he will hold his ground a lot better next season, and increased endurance will see him get more opportunistic goals too. Easily +40 goals. Also, expecting Scaife coming into the team to take some...

  28. The Chad and I

Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn : Calsher Dear! Rising star nom!

Dear could easily kick +45 next season and I expect his improvement will continue in a similar trajectory to last season. IMO he is our best KP forward. By about round 7-8 there will be no doubters left. Scaife is the one to watch. If he can fulfil the potential he showed at BH after a full...

Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn: Noah Mraz!

Thanks for engaging with the point. It's always difficult talking about players we all wish to succeed with us as being excess to our needs, but it's the reality of list management, and one of the reasons we were able to acquire good players in the past, like Goo, Gilham, D'Ambrosio etc You've...

Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn: Noah Mraz!

I think for the sake of list balance we should have depth options that range from ready to go, to talented but still developing. I think we have too many in the former category.
