We didn't make enough runs and bowled poorly but the fielding has been as poor as I've seen. Not just the dropped catches as some were difficult but the misfields.
At the end of his career people won't appreciate the clutch innings he has played over the years. Even today it felt like India had to get him early if they were to win.
It was just an okay innings. Didn't face much before lunch. Handy runs without getting the team home. He is just an okay player. Despite his average his reputation far exceeds his output
It's hard when you are young to underrstand but once you are out of the team there are no guarantees you get back in quickly.
He didn't need to do that shot and he is in for now but will need to pick his shots better if he wants to play ten years if test Cricket.
There has been lots of key moments in this test and the series but that one is right up there.
Not only was it going to be am easy catch to Khawaja, he also dropped it himself.
They could easily get another 50 runs and that could be too much for us.
Assuming we are chasing around 200, I think Konstas and Head will be the two big wickets. Both score quickly and the quicker we can get the chase to around 100 or less the better.
I don't all the talk esspecially in this series.
Where he will get the public off side will be if he keeps it up when we are flogging a team like the Windies or Pakistan.
Khawaja's reputation far exceeds what he has ever delivered. Definitely had some good innings in some series as many would if you keep getting picked but he has only ever been an okay player. I think the whole Warner circus took the spotlight off his performances.
Seems like there is a push...
I don't have a real problem with Konstas but I am involved in alot of kids and local sport and this kind of behaviour and Kohl's will filter down.
The difference at Test level is they get on with the game but at lower emotions spill over and it can real ugly between players, umpires, parents...
I think that's about right. I also wonder if he keeps it up when we are beating smaller test nations hiw it will be received.
In the end I think it will come down to timing. Maybe tonight wasn't the night.
I think he was a Dizzy pick. This season they wanted a batsman in the top 5 that could also keep.
From a team structure point of view, Paine wants something similar to the Heat.
