So you pick and choose when to use stats and player ratings, don't use them when they don't favour the Carlton player but spam them as evidence when they do! 🤣
Perhaps come join me, someone who places more weight on how coaches actually assess and rate their players.
Weitering has consistently...
???
Most realise players like Pendles and Sidey are not going to turn the clock back and be dominant mids with the 30 disposals, supercoach avg of 110+ and player rating of 16+ and finish top5 in the AFLCA coaches votes like they did in their prime back in 2010s.
But they have proven that even...
Why didn't you actually post your usual inane stats like player ratings and pop up a footywire comparison or two to show how many disposals and marks they take?
Using coaches votes and BnFs is how I like to compare players.
Pretty fair to mount a case that Weitering has been better than...
We are in 2025 now, 2022 was 3 seasons ago.
That was his peak season, and he built up to it with good footy at Essendon.
Use whatever stats you want, all show a decline in 23 and 24.
3 of last 4 years, Hardwick been better.
2022 the only year where Saad has been better.
No, it was Saad's...
LOL
Hardwick is in his prime now.
Saad was in his prime 3-5 years ago.
Clearly Hardwick the form player heading into 2025
Hardwick again clearly consistently better in recent times.
One player dropping off, it happens when you get to 30.
Yeah, Saad used to be good...he ain't been at that...
Oh Wormy...
Walsh stats aka "evidence" are misleading.
Hardwick doesn't play the same role that Saad does. Peak early 2020s Saad, was a 400m, 15 kick, 3 inside 50s, 5 rebound 50s, 7 HBR receive player who run and carried and created. That has never been Hardwick's game.
Of course a player who...
Poor Wormy...
Finishing 2nd BnF for the premier is better than finishing 2nd BnF for a non-top4 team.
We are talking 2024, where Hawks were the better performed team compared to Carlton.
Reckon most people would agree that a player who finished 4th in the BnF, and also had more AFLCA votes in...
Having 1 single AA team (also his only squad year) is a nod that his best was great...but is irrelevant when talking about consistent performance. He has not got close to his 2022 form in recent years.
Would you want 2022 Saad in a team, yep. But that was a single season that he hasn't...
Not sure why picking the player, who is in their prime, who has consistently been better across their career, and who was better in 2024 is hilarious?
Time for a footywire comparison as evidence?
Hardwick has had five top5 BnFs for the Hawks, including a 2nd in 2018 as a 21 yr old in a top 4 team and a 4th in 2024...pretty obvious why he is one of the first picked.
But Carlton fans love going "woof" and pretending it is still 2022 (the last year when Saad was actually a real quality...
All more reason to be confident in Hawthorn improving in 2025.
Sicily and Day, two of the Hawks most talented players, both had average seasons in 2024.
Lewis, their best KPF, couldn't get on the park.
Plus they add two quality defenders (top 6 players from respective clubs) in Battle and...
Hawks had 8 players kick 20 goals in 2024, and that didn't include Lewis.
Adding some quality KPDs also allows the Hawks to throw Sicily forward when it suits.
A forward line of - Sicily, Dear, Moore, Ginni, Lewis, Wizard and MacDonald - goes alright. And then they have Chol, Breust, Gunston...
Pointing out flaws in using footywire profiles as "evidence" as to which players are better.
Hardwick came 4th in Hawks BnF, compared to Saad who wasn't top 10.
BnF results a much better way of evaluating players, but some will use "stats" as evidence that Saad was better.
And yes, a bit...
Thinking the Hawks will be better in 2025 because they were better in 2024 and have added two top quality players (both have had consecutive top 10 BnF finishes at respective clubs in 2023/24)...is trolling?
Pointing out flaws in using footywire profiles as "evidence" as to which players are...
Yes not really fair to use 2024 BnFs when trying to talk 2025 performance.
Hawks still have their entire top10 on the list fit and raring to go, and have added two players who finished top10 in BnFs at other clubs in 2024.... probably why majority expect Hawks to pull further in front of...
I think most would agree for example that comparatively a player coming 6th in BnF for the premier (who also made AA squad) had a better year than a player coming 8th for a team that didn't finish top 4 and didn't make AA squad.
But some ignore the above and prefer to lean on footywire profiles...
BnF finishes give a reflection of how well players performed their role and are trusted by coaching staff to impact games.
IQ and Noble both play for Collingwood.
In 2023, Noble had a better stats and footywire profile than IQ...more effective disposals, more rebounds, more meters gained, more...
Probably why the majority believe Hawks will be better in 2025.
They were better in 2024, and have added arguably the 2nd best KPD in the game (behind H.Andrews) according to Intercepts, intercept marks, one on one contests, spoils etc
Agree, but you need to actually use them to support an argument properly.
Using a footywire player comparison and thinking the stats are "evidence" that the bloke with more stats is unequivocally better is a LoL.
Footywire comparison shows John Noble was busier than I.Quaynor in 2023, good...
Correct, a system that compiles all stats to show "rate" a player.
Having more stats and a higher SC score doesn't necessarily make a player better than another.
According to "statistics", Adelaide had the highest supercoach team ranking of all teams in 2023. They didn't even make finals.
Being busy and having more stats doesn't equal being better.
Their trajectory has them already going backwards.
2021 8 wins % of 88
2022 12 wins % of 108
2023 13 wins % of 116 + 2 finals wins
2024 13 wins % of 110
Unless you consider pick 3 a piece for 2025, they haven't really added anything.
Hawks have added pieces, and they went past Carlton in 2024.
WC were blessed to have Cuz, Judd and Kerr all flying from 2003-07. All different types of mids, that complimented each other too.
Cuz the gut running endurance star - winning MVP, Brownlow in 2005 and 2 BnFs
Kerr the balanced clean inside star - with 3 consecutive top 3 brownlow votes
Judd...
Yeah 4 goals, a GA and most score involvements on the ground.
But as MR will tell us, Dusty was 3x better then that in 2017 GF and 2x better in 2019 GF.
Coz playa ratings.
🤔
Why would Pies fans be posting about the consistently brilliant Sloane for?
Player Ratings adopts a different...
Bobby - 12.9
Pendles had most disposals and CP in Q4 as he delivered a flag, and had a rating of 14.4.
Player ratings are never wrong, MR has proven that. Dusty's 2017 norm smith performance was almost 3x more impactful than Bobby Hill's game.
Just imagine if Dusty had been able to impact...
