With the delisting being this late and after the trade period I’m assuming the Irish rookie is a certainty to come over and that we’re taking another ruck. Makes me think we might add someone more certain such as a delisted free agent but maybe we are just going to take the best mature ruck...
We did really well to maximise the midfield with some limitations we had. Smith is a big inclusion to help solve the issues there, Oliver on top would have been perfect but maybe next year.
We need some defensive cover in there but I think Stewart will move back with potential small stints in...
Just looking at that trade it’s hard to see the Dogs as winners in the outcome. But maybe if they made the trades earlier they might’ve been able to shuffle some things along.
The Fox coverage of this is absolute garbage, as bad as trade radio has been. It’s currently the most interesting it’s been and Fox are not showing anything
I’d actually much prefer to just do a deal with the dogs in good faith as we’ve usually done with clubs. But I don’t think any other clubs would take Smith in the draft. Pickering gave a good understanding of what role managers would play in these circumstances and said other clubs would not...
Getting late in the game to have any new players being discussed. But if Oliver is staying, and saints can’t find a deal for Macrae could we up our offer to the dogs if Macrae is included. Not as exciting as getting Oliver but we do need to find some more mids.
In what way? 2 flags in 150 years, down the bottom for club membership, bottom bracket for game attendance.
In what ways do the club ‘punch above their weight?’
That is a loser mentality, that’s why your club is irrelevant. Thinking that the world is out to get you because of one thing happening instead of seeing the bigger picture.
Of course I would always want Geelong to get the best for the club in any trades. Never would I think I want the club to...
I think trading a player like Close would be devastating to the club. He’s a great link player on the field which means he also understands the gameplan really well. And has Close relationships with many of the players including Jezza.
I think culture wise it’s actually easier to trade out star...
Amazing that Clayton is able to be in Shepparton and clean out his locker in Melbourne at the same time. Maybe he could just play for both clubs seeing as he can be in two places at the same time.
If that report is true about demons wanted a first round pick but haggling over who pays his contract then Oliver is likely to land at the cats. Because that sounds like normal trade haggling.
It could also be another reason the smith trade is being held up because we need to see how we can...
What’s happening with JJ at the dogs? He’s seems like he is available if a club is keen. Hasn’t had the best couple of seasons but he’s played some good footy before. If we miss on Oliver I’d be still looking for another player to add.
Maybe JJ could play a role on the wing or half back to...
If Oliver still wants out the smart move would be to leave immediately after formal requirements tonight. It would send a much stronger message than what others are saying about him causing a stir. Because it would show he’s professional but doesn’t want anything to do with the club.
I’d happily give McHenry a spot, we will have a few list spots available and he’d be decent backup. But seems unlikely we’ll load up with delisted free agents.
Maybe we could see if the giants want to trade a couple of their picks this year for our future first. Then use that to offer for Oliver or another Mid.
Do we think the hold up with some of the contracts like Kolo is the club is waiting on trades to drop to see how they can plan the cap? Or they’ve been signed and just not announced?
Despite the flaws in his game that are the reason he wasn’t picked he performed really well particularly this season. It actually sounded like he didn’t have any communication from Scott. Which is the direct question he was asked, I was interested to hear his response as he could’ve easily made...
Did you listen to the interview?
He came across very level headed and understanding of what would’ve been a challenging 18 months. Said he loved his time at the club and it is a challenging team to break into.
