Any insight or thoughts on Brett Eddy from South? I saw a bit of him when he was playing VFL, and until he did his ACL was looking a good chance of being picked up.
Not concerned with how our defence played Buddy.
He has class days where he doesn't lay a tackle, or have any pressure acts. Today, he forced himself on the match with aggression, and still had that class - that's the most dangerous Buddy you can get.
Funny how only a year ago Richardson (as far as my interpretation stretches) appeared somewhat tainted by the fact he clashed with Mick Malthouse at Collingwood and, subsequently, was forced out of Carlton (or chose to leave?) following Mick's appointment.
Suddenly, two of Mick's former...
I like the idea of having as many SA under 18 captains in the squad as possible - generally screams 'good person', and it's become obvious that Ken & co. get the most out of good people.
I meant more in terms of being that perfect height, perfect weight, huge leap etc.. I probably didn't phrase it properly. I was more trying to highlight how the best players aren't necessarily the most alluring on paper (in terms of non-playing statistical traits - height, weight etc.)
I like Hourigan alot.
I think everyone is a bit over concerned about his lack of height... Reminds me a little of one B. Fevola, who is only 191cm. You don't have to be an athletic, physically gifted beast to be a gun forward.
Any chance we'd make a play for Karnezis?
He's not a monster sized forward - 190cm - but I personally think he'd offer a lot. In fact, assuming Lobbe, Redden & Butcher all reach something resembling their potential, he could potentially be the perfect size to prevent us creating a triangle...
11 year old me adopted him as my favourite player in 2003, proudly displaying the number 33 on my guernsey. This favouritism was cemented in 2004 when, at a Victorian PAFC members clinic, he not only gave me heaps of attention (how many kids would have had #33 at that stage?!), but he took me on...
I'm sorry, but the only players coming out of our 18's (if they are SAAFL based) and into the VFL side will be the ones deemed not good enough to be drafted. This is not the purpose of an academy. I - and I support the idea of keeping the junior sides - would give up my support for the idea if...
Which players are going to choose to play for the Port Adelaide SAAFL under 18's when they're already zoned to another team in a stronger under 18 competition? The one's who aren't good enough to automatically make the SANFL under 18's.
I agree with this, but this doesn't mean the links can't be stronger with a SANFL team. Seems more logical to have a token reserve team in the SANFL then the VFL.
VFL option (with the removal of all SANFL connections) makes no sense to me.
No 'stand-alone' VFL sides (e.g. Collingwood & Essendon) have a VFL reserves, and no VFL clubs have under 18's. So, basically, it would be the same as succumbing to the SANFL demands, but adding additional travel and...
I was just thinking this. When was the last time we've had someone suspended from a genuinely hard hit? Not a dodgy elbow, knee or strike, just a seriously assertive piece of physical contact.
Yeah that sounds about right. I wonder how many other times he's ended up with 10 marks in a match.. Hurley and Carlisle only had 11 between them. A very good day at the office for the Bell
His leads were fantastic. I thought he was the best looking lead up forward in their side on the day. On several occasions I checked with my Essendon supporting mates who the player was, only to be shocked that it was Bellchambers.
Not sure which of our defenders was manning him, but they...
I was row W in section 12. I was a singular Port supporter, but behind a family of Port supporters. The father of the family looked really familiar... like he'd posted a photo of his kids at the mega store or something, but I couldn't find the photo (yes.. i searched for it haha)
Sorry to everyone who had to hear me yell 'Carn the pear!' each time the crowd fell silent (every time we had the ball for more than 3 seconds) tonight.
It's highly addictive.
Not sure - someone else will need to help out with that one!
I feel like the biggest concern is the presence of the Magpies reserves.
Remove the reserves. This would mean PAFC enters a side in the AFL, a senior side in the SANFL and an under 18's etc. Players topping up the SANFL seniors...
