Flynn has a background as an elite underage Gaelic footballer and will be mentored by countryman and former Sydney Swans champion Tadhg Kennelly during his time with the Power.

The club has made a two-year commitment to Flynn with plans to develop him into a small to medium defender.

So does this mean he can change from being a 175cm defender into a 187cm defender at will? Does he have any other superpowers?

I wonder what the Maggies are paying for the 2014 flag? Wouldn't that get up the nose of every prick in Adelaide bar us!!!

I'll put money on them making finals, that's a given.
I'd just love for us to dominate and build a good supporter base for the first year.
Seeing kids like this guy and the other youngsters like Shaw and Clurey will bring the crowds in.

His interview on trade radio cracked me up. Very think accent and speaks so quickly. Kennelly said he's a very funny bloke once you can understand him and I think he'll fit in great with our young, close culture. Maybe we need him to learn how to speak off renouf, that might slow his talking speed down a bit lol

Kevin Sheehan just made mention of our Flynn deal. Lots of clubs trying to do deals with him today on the back of a strong showing in the skills testing today, backing up his speed testing only to find our Port had stitched him up last night.

Shifter: @PAFC beat rivals for @FlynnersDan, signing him last night. Impressed with skills on both sides. Listen: http://goo.gl/9EIra4

Congrats Port, delighted to see another Irishman in the AFL. As I said before, he's an exciting talent with skill to match his obvious athleticism. Although I was surprised to see his Combine results, very impressive.

I think it's an ideal year for you guys to recruit an international rookie with your reserve team starting up, as the Crows had serious difficulty getting their Irish recruit Brian Donnelly up to speed a few years ago given he was shipped around various SANFL teams (although as one of Ricky Nixon's proteges I don't think he was very good to begin with!)

Good luck to Flynn, hope he lives up to his potential and plays plenty of games.

Crows to sign an Irishman in 10... 9... 8...

"The crows have signed Leprechaun, considered to be the next Bono and footballing god, by footballing god I mean literally the best singer/songwriter/football/philanthropist player in the entire galaxy, we thought he would nominate for the draft and go pick #1. We actually thought clubs would be willing to spend two picks on him, there was even talk Sydney were trading to get picks 1 and 2 to secure him."
