Went to the game yesterday and the result was unfortunate for AFL Cairns, a good crowd saw one way traffic after 5 minutes. Richter was great, unfortunately he is often a one man band with other players drifting in and out of the game.
Souths struggled to keep the leg ticking over, short break...
From all reports Hawks were/are always going to improve, but I still thought Port would have toppled them.
Souths need to beat Centrals to be finals contenders, the matches between them and Hawks might decide 4th spot going by current form. Going down to Hawks last week might come back and...
Injuries didn't help port, 2 down in the warm up and 17 players on the field for 70% of the game. The bloke that was red carded should get 10 weeks, and delisted. Cracked a players head open in a blatant punch, started punching a bloke on the bottom on the pack, sent off twice and gave away 5...
I don't think much could be taken out of the game to be honest. From what I saw Rex nor meuller played, we heard liddy has not been heard from all week. Both defensive lines were good, Walsh still kicked 6 but the Norths backs kept Macqueen quiet. Once the big man Braybon gets his touch back and...
Saints: The professional outfit, built on southern league attributes, solid sponsors, well formed backroom, support for travelling couples, netball team, and a well organised accommodation setup for gun recruits at Cairns one complex. It takes alot of hard work to build this enviroment, (and...
Hats off to Paul griffith, he kept that team together for just enough to get success. Sounds like he had a fair battle on his hands! After tonight, I reckon he is sorely missed. New coach tried hard but is not in the same class as Bradford and Willie, where is scrimma? It is only round one but...
Fellow Dick! You forgot to mention Jesse Dixon, Macqueen, Hallas, Ricky Allen and Sam Harkin. Plus midfielders like Powell, Hislop, Philpot's, Searle and another R.Couch. Then the old heads of A.Couch, Ferrier, big Jarvs (huge man) and possibly Kennedy (training well) down back. All the names...
Got my groups mixed up sorry lads! Saints through after beating Port in a close one in group one. Walked out after the showers and saw Chris Adams being sent off 5 minutes into the game from a cheap shot...
Lions looked competitive, hopefully the numbers improve.
Gills clearance is on the...
Tips for the preseason cup... I think Norths by percentage in the first group and Port Douglas will surprise us all in group 2. Saints coaches said they will try and give everyone a run but it will be interesting to see if we go for a spot in the grand final.
Nick Gill has signed with the...
Who is the new umpires boss? From all reports the umpires are a bit light on up this way, must be a tough gig.
Ladder prediction
Norths
Hawks
Saints
Port
Lions
Souths
Centrals
Will be interesting to revisit this in a few months. 2 weeks until preseason cup... Looking forward to seeing the...
Knock it off Pagans Paddock, you would want to have a few league medals around your neck. Digging into a 19 year is poor form, really poor form. Stick to gossip going on in the league.
Kid has done no wrong at the Saints, trains hard and expects nothing. For his sake I hope the boy goes well...
How many of the regions promising juniors have left over the last 3 years to go and play in Brisbane or even further south due to better footy, I reckon roughly 30 blokes. From Saints alone we have had over 5 and that is without upcoming juniors. Having a NEAFL side in Cairns gives these boys a...
He would be Zac Kelly, one of the 3 Croydon boys that came up with the coach. Know him Happy Feet?
I haven't seen the clearance forms out at training yet, so no silly games being played at Saints. Just has not happened yet.
I don't know of any trouble at Hawks, it was more of a question...
Why turn away blokes who want to be at your club? I can promise you that Saints didn't approach them and were surprised when they showed up. They obviously are not happy with what is happening or has happened at Hawks.
All clubs voted Easter weekend to go ahead, but I don't think they voted for the day in which they would play. The Monday game is going to be a stinker, over half of the Saints boys are from Victoria and would be heading back for Easter... I reckon that would be the same at a few clubs.
First...
Gill won't coach. He is still overseas, so he is not on radio yet and has not had any face to face meetings. Heard it's out of Cities or Saints, he knows people at both of these clubs.
Wise is not in town and I doubt he will be. Eagle still has not signed anywhere. Nothing exciting except...
