Absolutely keeps trying to improve and get better each season, has grown as a leader …… will become one of the best mids in the comp 🤞 and built for finals. How early did Sam notice his talent. His eye on the game is a big reason why our list has come together relatively quickly without all...
End of the year during finals attended a training session and noticed Newk moved off to the side on his own space out a few cones and just worked on footwork. When he’s talking about speed and explosiveness in his game …….. I reckon he is referring to speed in and out of congestion/pack of...
The positive thing with Skaife ……. loved the way when he arrived at the club and said something like “I’m going to be a 200 game player for the HFC”, it’s only his first preseason, at training he is like a sponge seeking advice from great backs such as Barrass and co on how to position the body...
Best of luck to the young man his long term welfare is the most important thing in his recovery ….. but when a door shuts another one opens. Ramma, Skaife ……. or utilise Siss, Weds or Battle versatility? Mitch will work something out I hope 🤞
Where’s the thread “who’s got the best youth out of Crows, North and Hawks” gone? That went down well didn’t it? Anyway that should show you the loyal Hawks fans that you aren’t talking about!
By the way the definition of optimism, positivity ……. very different to dominant
Since day 1 always been a massive fan of Frenchie. Will be a A grader! This was a post from a training report when I first saw him Dec 22:
“Last thing is the player that most caught my eye. It was Cam Mackenzie. This kid is class. Solid overhead, moves well, good size and his kicking is...
Had a really good year didn’t he 37 goals, defensive pressure for a big man excellent, provides a chop out in ruck and his field kicking/set shot at goals first class. Interesting to see whether we can play all of Lewis/Chol/Dear in the same team as don’t want to eat into the small forward...
Some interesting discussion re Lewis and CJ being walk up starters in our best 22 which got me thinking who’s actually in that group if fit. Not using the word depth …… will have two groups ‘walk up starters’ and ‘fighting for a spot’ so I will have a crack in no particular order:
Walk up...
He’s been given an opportunity to train at the Hawks is very happy for his son to be around the club/players to see what it takes to play AFL and a high performance environment. Like with all F/S that show potential will play next season and then hopefully go into the draft.
Son pestering me again over the weekend ….. twisted my arm 😀 so made it to training. Love seeing all the training reports that come through from other Hawk BF faithful thank you 🙏. Hot. Hard to watch everything going on but what stood out for me:
Our group absolutely love and thrive hard...
How many times does he appear out of nowhere pinches the ball out of the oppositions hands or intercepts a handball …… his awareness and reading of ball/play is amazing. The best going around
The thing I love about the Wiz he reads the play so much earlier than everyone else. Add in his turbo gear changes, agility, spring leap ….. he is special and will embarrass plenty!
Many are thinking and saying that the Hawks will go backwards due to various reasons such as they will be worked out, big heads, harder draw etc which are all valid reasons. However what’s being overlooked is that they aren’t yet close to the finished product.
Hawks aren’t far behind the best...
Looking fit. On the track still only straight line running followed by goal kicking practise. Yeah fingers crossed he gets a good run at it when he makes it back.
Henry is a dangerous forward gets in the right spots and doesn’t need many possessions to have an impact. With Cameron/Neale and a small forward group of Stengle, Miers, Close at their feet the Cats scoring options looks really good.
End of last season I was very concerned with the state of...
For those that don’t know much about Hawthorn and its midfield group/structure ……. the coach on a few occasions has publicly said that we don’t want to see or rely on one or two mids getting it 30 times every week. We look for, would much prefer having 6-10 players getting it in the low 20’s...
Funny seeing envious oppo supporters having tizzy fits because channel 7 chose the Hawks for a preseason doco. This time last year most had Hawks bottom 4 but ended the season one kick away from a prelim playing some exciting attacking football with a new breed enjoying themselves. Of course...
Also highlights where Weds is training a bit ……. beginning his runs from the HB line could have a license to roam and run hard all the way up to the forward line.
