Good:
- Great spirited win with our injuries. Crowd got fired up too which was great.
- Character from Sloane and Talia to keep playing sore. Both were fantastic. Talia destroyed Jack.
- Rory Laird is a superstar. You just know he'll always use the ball well. Can't believe how misused he was...
Thanks for the insights. A bit worried about our outs and having to debut three youngsters in the one game. Doedee should have been blooded last year.
I'm thinking Dea might be a bit small for Fogarty at 186? Fogarty is apparently 193 and looked dominant against Houston who is 187 in our last...
I would say:
- Our ability to cope with manic pressure. It was our undoing against Melbourne, Geelong at Goomba Stadium, Hawthorn and the Grand Final off the top of my head. We're incredibly beatable when the opponent applies swarming pressure on our ball carrier.
- Forward line. We cannot...
What about Kyle Cheney?
He doesn't really have any standout footballing attributes besides professionalism and attitude, but he doesn't have too many weak attributes either.
He has decent but not exceptional speed, disposal and decision making. Decent size but too small to play as a key...
So for the OP, I think the team is:
B: Tom Doodee ~ Daniel Tahlia ~ Andy Ottens
HB: Michael Doherty ~ Kyle Hardigan ~ Matthew Jeansch
C: David MacKay/McKay ~ Cam Ellis-Yolman ~ Andrew McCloud
HF: Mark Riccutio ~ Kurt Tippet ~ Chris Knight
F: Jason Porplizia ~ Barry Stanfield ~ Troy Menzal
Fol...
That loss to West Coast in Round 23 just keeps on giving.
First it pushed Melbourne's pick down to 10, then it gave us that hilarious final, now it gives us pick 12.
The much vaunted "extra" we got for Dangerfield (equivalent of 29 and Gore) over the compensation pick wasn't worth it.
If we knew in advance that Geelong wouldn't give us the second first rounder or a quality player (likely since the deal went through incredibly early), we should have forced...
All depends on what we're paying him really. Much more than about 450 to about 500 and I would wonder why we didn't offer Lever more initially instead.
Obviously talented and would be a great pick up if he lived up to that talent, but also has strong whipping boy potential with his...
Missed five games through injury and would have finished seventh if he played all games with the same votes/game average. But don't let facts get in the way of your great story.
12 and 19 for Cameron, 16 and 52 perhaps? That values Cameron at Pick 21.
Obviously a deal like that is quite dependent on who interests us and the Lions in the draft/trading as you mentioned, but it could possibly work.
Because we need to take a stand eventually that we will no longer be ripped off.
We accepted the pathetic deal of Gunston, 53 and 71 for 24, 46 and 64. Couldn't risk getting nothing for Gunston, could we?
What about Dangerfield and 53 for 11, 33 and Gore? Better than nothing, right?
That deal...
The trouble with this thinking is that he doesn't provide anything significant to our side if he's not physical. We all know he can score a fair amount of goals from the Joe the Goose/uncontested marks and set shots, but these things tend to dry up in the finals, at which point he becomes a...
But was that extra return of ~29 and Gore honestly worth it from our end?
The picks we made them give up haven't really handicapped Geelong, a premiership rival, in acquiring the players they wanted in the 2015/16 trade periods, and it could be argued that we helped them in this regard by...
Incredibly disappointing performance from Jenkins. I have little faith that he will terrorise his opponent and take contested grabs like a big forward should. He is taken out of contests far too easily for someone his size, but it wasn't like he made too many contests through leading into space...
Well it doesn't feel as bad as a prelim loss. But maybe that's because it wasn't close in the end.
We played into Richmond's hands to their credit. Our forwards could not take a mark to save their lives, which is where I thought we could expose Richmond during the week. Walker was a massive...
Checking in. Suggested we should trade him and I would have dropped him for the Eagles game and given his spot to someone else if they earnt it.
I was wrong, he played the game of his life tonight. He's clearly a September performer now.
Pretty meaningless but fun exercise. Do the Crows include Ricciuto who only played in 07 and was past his best? What about our little army of turncoats?
Assuming it's peak Ricciuto and the achievements of turncoats before leaving (but they can sit on the end of the bench for their disloyalty)...
You think Milera can be a gun in the finals but a passenger in the AFL and SANFL, so you can't play this game.
Unlike Milera, Menzel at least has put some good form together in the SANFL. Deserved a shot this week to see if he could play a part in the finals series. If he sucked, then just drop...
The draft sanctions. We needed to trade much-loved fan-favourite Vince to get back into the second round thanks to those down at clubland involved in the Tippett debacle.
It's unfortunate it had to come to that and we couldn't take Matt with the second rounder we were supposed to have.
For...
And how many games has Milera turned this year? Not many. If I recall correctly, he was decent against GWS and good against Freo, but other than that, he's been carried and his defensive efforts have not been good enough. IMO it is more likely this will be exposed big time in the finals than him...
No it isn't. His SANFL form has hardly warranted a recall. He's been selected purely on potential.
I'll eat my words if he comes good, but I want players in good form in the seniors at this point. He and Cameron shouldn't be playing this week.
I know, and as I said, I'm not advocating sweeping changes, but I feel Pyke and the selection panel have made some poor decisions over the last couple of years because he has this completely fixed best 22 in his mind that cannot be deviated from for any reason other than debilitating injury...
I think Pyke has improved tactically, but if there's one thing I want to see from him, it's that he doesn't have a best 22 set in stone that he refuses to change unless forced to by injury, regardless of form.
Obviously we don't need to make wholesale changes, but we can't keep carrying someone...
Really disappointed with his performance tonight, and for much of the year. His kicking has been horrible.
He's got a lot of talent, but he just hasn't put it together. At this stage I'm thinking we ought to just bite the bullet and trade him for a second rounder. If Brisbane can get the best...
