My order of preference for the players that could be available at our pick:
Mathieson
Clarke
Gresham
Oliver
Tucker
Balic
I think most will agree that if Mathieson is available at 14, that is who we draft.
He also follows; McCartin, Ross, Billings, Curren, Dunstan, Templeton, Hickey, H.Goddard (who he seems very close with) and our saviour Ameet Bains
..it's on

C: Nick Riewoldt Nick Riewoldt Nick Riewoldt
HF: Nick Riewoldt Nick Riewoldt Nick Riewoldt
F: Nick Riewoldt Nick Riewoldt Nick Riewoldt
R: Nick Riewoldt Nick Riewoldt Nick Riewoldt
I/C: Nick Riewoldt...
If we take McCartin (which we will) then we won't be taking Lamb or R. McKenzie, even if they are available.
Take McCartin + midfield slider + D. McKenzie/Touk Miller/Neal-Bullen
I met CP out about a month ago, spoke to him briefly, seemed a nice enough bloke and he actually told me then that he thought we'd pick up Paddy, but at the time I thought he was just trying to be modest.
We've had the best CHF of the modern era and unable to win a flag.
Forward lines win games, Midfields win premierships.
Just look at Hawthorn, they won the flag with Roughead and Gunston as their key forwards, meanwhile Sydney had Franklin, Tippett and Reid but couldn't get it to them...
Below is taken from an article Pelchen did with the afl website the other week:
4. "The combine results have a big bearing on where a player is selected in the draft."
Fiction – While the combine does play an important part in a club's thinking on a player, it is purely complementary to the...
“It is not as black and white as some people believe. While Petracca is a very exciting forward/midfielder I think McCartin’s claims on being the top selection have been undersold as he’s a quality key forward and they don’t grow on trees."
I take that comment to mean that picking Petracca...
I'd be fine with Armitage leaving, but I feel it would be a dumb move to trade Steven, his value in the eyes of other clubs would be a lot lower after the injury ravaged season he just had.
Look at Jack in 2013, he was one of the best young midfielders in the competition, I'd be extremely...
I reckon Melbourne may be more interested in Wright at 3 then McCartin, which would suit us.
McCartin at 4, Ahern at 7. I'm a big big fan of Ahern.
If McCartin is gone I'd take Lever at 4, Ahern at 7.
My draft preference in order
McCartin
Lever
Ahern
Weller
Laverde
De Goey
How are we possibly going to get another top 20 pick without trading pick 1?
Gilbert? Probably not worth a top 20 pick on his own, throw in a 3rd rounder and it could get the job done, but may not be a lot of interest.
Montagna? We can't afford to lose another experienced head in the midfield...
With Membrey coming in, we will be taking Petracca with Pick 1.
Don't see as much of a need for McCartin with the forwards we will have on our list next season, obviously things may change by the end of the trade period:
Rhys Stanley - 200cm, 96kg (24yo) -> CHF
Spencer White - 196cm, 84kg...
Tim Membrey is a great prospect. He ran 3 seconds flat for his 20m sprint at the 2012 draft combine which is reasonably quick for his size. He is also supposed to be a very solid overhead mark and a great kick for goal. Would be happy to have him at the club.
I really don't think we should be drafting Peter Wright, he's a good ruckman that can play as forward occasionally but is not a permanent KPF, he's just too tall and not agile enough in my opinion.
McCartin would be my first choice at the moment, he's a strong FF, bit like Taylor Walker/Tom...
