Hypothetical time again...

Let's say we get McCartin, DAN McKenzie, a sliding Duggan and Lonie in the ND

What's the view in Dan Mac, Rahul and others? Reminds me a bit of Hibberd with his good defensive body work, with some seriously sharp pace. Good mark for his size. Lacks getting the pill I understand. Any chance he develops that?

He had OP before we got him.

Not selecting Judd cost us one flag at least.

Lets hope we aren't saying the same about Petracca in 10 years
Not having a decent defensive structure is what cost us a flag 2004-06.... Not sure Judd would have helped that.

Not having a plan B (ie: how to cope when the game goes man-on-man by the 2nd quarter in the Grand Final) is what cost us a flag 2009-10.... Chris Judd may have helped that, but it's not a certainty as you're making out

To be fair a pick 1-3 rated KPF is nothing to scoff at, and if he turns out a good strong KPF to build a forward line around then we're laughing.

If we get a nice ripe slider this draft, and then pick up 1 or 2 gun mids in the next draft and get them all developing together we might just have another 10 year team who might get luckier than the last one. (And who won't have a spud coach who ruins groins and doesn't train players)

The Saints finalised their plans for Thursday’s AFL draft in a high-powered meeting last week and confirmed Saad was a chance to return to Seaford in 2015, when his 18-month suspension for taking a banned drug expires.

But with St Kilda’s last pick at the national draft at No.41, a selection chief operating officer Ameet Bains said was “possibly” too high to activate on the 25-year-old, Saad’s best hope might be as a rookie.

The Saints will use four rookie selections on December 3, with one reserved for veteran Adam Schneider and delisted trio Jared Petrenko, Shaun McKernan (both Adelaide) and Jeremy Taylor (Gold Coast) hoping to win second lifelines.

Saad has been in regular contact with Saints player welfare manager Tony Brown and Bains and is in prime physical condition.

Ahmed Saad wants to return to the AFL after an 18-month drugs ban.

He is completing an intensive personal training program devised by former Magpie Adam Iacobucci.

“He’s someone we valued pretty highly,” Bains said.

“We didn’t make any firm commitments to him. We told him that closer to the draft we needed to get an understanding of how you’re placed physically and mentally and whether you’re up for the AFL battle after having spent so much time out of the game.

“He had a disappointing second year, the old cliche of second-year blues, but he kicked almost 30 goals in his first year of AFL as a small forward, which was very impressive.

“He did the wrong thing and through really unfortunate circumstances he was penalised for it and to his credit he’s worked really hard away from the club and away from organised sport to keep himself fit and in shape.”

Absolute certainty we would have won a flag with Judd instead of Ball.

Are you kidding?

We didn't pick Judd because we were worried about his shoulders but picked a player knowing he had OP? I find that hard to believe.
From what I was told we didn't pick Judd because we were told by West Coast that they weren't going to take him and as such we believed we'd be able to get BOTH Ball and Judd, but they double-crossed us and took Judd and left us with X at 5. (I think we believed they would take Polak and Freo would take Sampi- or vice-versa, leaving us with Judd at 5).

Mate just advised me another story re CP. Out at some place called the ritz (never heard of it #gettingold) One of his mates stood next to Petracca at the bar, pointed out they had the same shoes and Petracca told him to **** off. He's the best available player period, so should the club take McCartin there are are clearly issues whether it be medical, personality with CP combined with the need for a KPF.

Not that telling someone to **** off is a big deal but just as worthy as a messy room.
I met CP out about a month ago, spoke to him briefly, seemed a nice enough bloke and he actually told me then that he thought we'd pick up Paddy, but at the time I thought he was just trying to be modest.

Not at all, as Judd would have retired by the age of 25 because Grant Thomas & the match committee would have kept playing him (as they did with Ball) with his shoulder problems & become a Sean Rusling type case ;)

has jaxons said anything recently since all the carts' new broke?

Think jaxons has been out of the loop since he was fired from the club.

Will be interested the reason why the club selects whoever @ no.1.

Pelchan laid out a long term plan. Would be interesting how these new player fit that long term plan.

If it is McCartin, it will be of interest to know why now when our project forward stock are really high.

For all of you lads and ladies who never had the immense pleasure of watching Plugger play live at Moorabbin, I have a gut feeling that big Paddy will bring back the halcyon days to the club.
He is the first genuine power forward with superstar potential who is 194cm plus to come through the draft since a young Jonathon Brown, and we all know what he achieved.
Get excited, the rebuild continues and I already have a D'arcy Parish and Tucker double locked away for next year.
I watched most of plugger's games live… and while he was the greatest forward to play, the game has completely changed from when he was dominating.

We are truly turning into Melbourne if we **** up pick 1 and Petracca becomes the gun that everyone expects.

What a disaster.

You are probably correct.Or Kosi would have run through him and put him out of action for a season

Watch the Draft Guns: Weirdest Recruiter Question video on afl site. 2:57 minute mark, might be reading into it - but there was some serious attitude in CP answering back to the interviewer.

Reminds me of the decision made on Draft Day!! It's interesting how all of these little stories about his attitude are coming out now. I do think he will make us pay short term as he is ready to go but I trust the Bains trust down at St Kilda! (See what I did there?:p)
