What has happened to Begley? In his first few games he was awesome. Hard at it, 2nd and 3rd efforts, ran straight at goal and kicked truly. He looked like a ready made AFL player.
He played some good football. His biggest problem was his body holding up. If they got Jenkins, I can understand his contract not being renewed. Any chance they are looking at Henderson as a replacement?
Bring the youngsters along by setting elite standards on the training track, hating when Dons lose, respected and not being a Prima Donna. This is not necessarily the best players.
If our window to win finals is now, I am disappointed we didn’t get an extra forward and a big bodied, aggressive mid fielder. Jenkins and Bonar were there for the taking.
Can’t rely on Browns soundness, McKernan’s inconsistency and Joe who doesn’t want to be there. And we don’t appear to have...
Reckon Browns major issue is soundness. Limped off early in final after starting well. McKernan’s issue is consistency.
Jenkins is completely sound, has a big tank and consistent.
Reckon Bombers are too accepting of guys that have average to poor disposal skills. Would be nice to get some silk in that department. Don’t reckon we will ever threaten until we get that.
I reckon Sydney would love to get him but are not phased if they don’t. They got Buddy for pick #18 and expected more of the same (favourable trade deal) from Daniher.
As for Daniher, I’m pretty pissed off with him requesting the trade while he is still under contract. He has been paid the big...
If Dons were to get players in return for Joe (in addition to #5), guys like Heeney are born and bred in NSW and would never want to shift to Melbourne.
Florent is small bodied but was playing great football at the end of 2019. Lots of run and 2nd and 3rd efforts. And he is a Melbourne boy...
Reckon Laverde really started to show something in the 2nd half of the season.
He started kicking more accurately... looked much more relaxed.
And he won a lot of one on ones. His handpass to Walla against North to win the game was
an example of his class.
Reckon he is on the up big time...
Not true about Jenkins. Reason why he gets in behind the defence to score goals is that he is a gut runner. His defender
cant keep up.
McKernan improved a lot this year, but his final against West Coast was a freaking disgrace. We were relying on him so
much to play well. He had 1 possession to...
We had no chance of succeeding in 2019 with a rabble of a leadership group.
Heppell, Merrett, Myers, Daniher, Fantasia
Seeing Hurley play with a sore shoulder and literally cry when we lost (as did Hooker), those 2 are the first selected for 2020.
We don't need any prima donnas in 2020...
Exactly. He is definitely leadership team material. We need replacements for Myers, Daniher and Fantasia. We need players that don’t give a f#ck about the club to maintain our high standards.
True, but Howard put his hand up to ruck when Ryder didn’t come up due to injury, and Howard did a really good job at it. Lycett was also injured. That game was the end of Paddy at Port. Pretty sure it was against Collingwood.
Cox averages 1 goal a game and Jenkins 2 goals a game. If Pies remove Cox, reckon they would immediately sign up Jenkins. Because Jenkins gives them a greater chance of winning a flag. As he would improve Essendon’s chance of winning a flag.
He rucked mainly deep in the forward line with the Crows. So Jacobs usually stayed outside forward 50 for a breather.
I thought Jenkins went OK getting ball to Betts etc. The opposition ruckman usually stayed with Jacobs. So Jenkins
would often compete against a non full time ruckman.
Any thoughts on Jenkins on a 2 year deal. He is 200CM and can run all day. Most importantly, kick straight and
consistently kicks an average of over 2 goals a game. And he has winning finals experience. Apart from the big
one in 2017. He can also pinch hit in the ruck. Hurley's best mate...
When Buddy went to Sydney, the Hawks said he couldn’t mark over his head. He suddenly became a good mark. 4 pain killing injections each thumb prior to every game. You would expect them to inject Daniher in a similar way.
Money would be big for Joe and the expectation of a big performance huge...
McKernan had 1 touch to half time in the final in Perth. He finished with 4 disposals (2 rushed) and 2 hit outs. After a much improved season, let us down big time.
Brown and Stewart constantly get injuries when you need them the most.
Couldn’t see that combination ever winning a final.
"Essendon has today finalised a five-man leadership group for 2019, with Dyson Heppell set to lead the Bombers as captain for a third consecutive year.
The 26-year-old will be supported by Zach Merrett (vice-captain), David Myers, Joe Daniher and Orazio Fantasia in the club’s new-look...
Does Essendon really need draft picks? Have to wait 2-3 years before they become mature AFL players. Dons are not that far off now when they play at their best. Reckon we need bigger bodied mid fielders that run both ways and protect guys like Merrett and Shiel. Maybe one draft pick and SPP.
Rest assured, he will play like a champion for the Swans and hardly miss a game. Imagine the nightmare that he and Franklin will cause. He has obviously been offered the big bucks.
