Enjoy it whilst you can as all these top 10’s, top 5’s etc will likely end up killing the Northern Academy benefits as they stand. If they just keeps rolling in the AFL will end up stepping in for equalisation purposes. It’s starting to smell like Sydney’s COLA did.
Pick 65 - Floyd Burmeister
After apparently the longest pause in draft night history, GC select Floyd Burmeister - 199cm ruck from Vic Country. I would have thought he’s a 50:50 chance to make it but at pick 65 he’s worth having a look for a lazy 8-10 years as “talls take time”. We’ve got...
Pick 64 - Rhys Unwin
It’s hard to tell what GC really even needs at this point but we’ve landed on a zippy small forward with good pace (2.88 sec 20m sprint) and good agility.
Seriously considered Joshua Murphy here instead but then realised (after much contemplation) I’d already taken him in...
Sydney Pick 54 - Joshua Murphy
Sydney’s forward line needs as much bostering as it can get at the moment. Joshua managed a 74cm vertical leap in the state combine which would have placed him in the top three for that catagory in the National Combine. Kicked 2 goals plus in 3 of his 4...
I’d love to take a small forward but the Swans would always match here. Invested too much money, time and energy and he’s been developing nicely for them.
We are going full reverse Norf up North.

Bangers - where would you rate Harry Armstrong against last years talls? The top 20 of 2023 obviously had a lot more taken than will be this year. Do Armstrong and Shanahan sit in the same calibre?
Pick 26: Jonty Faull
It’s pretty clear that Sydney can’t rely on Luke Parker to kick another 3 in a Grand Final. He’s not only playing in another teams colours but was so disgusted by his team mates efforts up front that he ran away down south to escape the shame. Outside of Luke, the forward...
Sydney just got very very excited.
Luke Trainor come on up and help us fix our backline. After being a top 10 lock for the majority of the year, Trainor done banged his head again. He could credibly drop to Sydney in the real thing. They’ll eat his arm off to get him in if he does (and...
If you take, as this draft at those spots would easily provide:
A tall back
A small running back
Two elite mids
One winger
A tall forward
A small forward
And a best available
All of those players have the option to not be stuck in the 2nds if they have the talent to play AFL.
Plus law of...
Bob East
Matt Rosa

……. Recollections may vary about how good a season Leo has had comparative to his peers to go pick 5. However, he’s a Larke Medal winner and had an excellent championships. Yet another academy gift to the GC Suns.
GC match and look forward to their 9th...
Giving up pick 10 seems a monsterous price to go from Smillie/Draper/Smith to Lalor. I just keep failing to see the win win for Richmond in taking this path.
I don’t agree. I think get all 8 this year. Even with all 8 picks in the top 24 at least 1 or 2 won’t make it and they might as well work that through and take picks on top in ensuing years. I’d go full GWS/GC whilst they can. At least Richmond still have a fairly solid core of older players...
I can’t see any point in the tigers entertaining anything unless they get massive overs in the trade. I love their draft haul - will absolutely kill it if they stay with precisely what they have.
Could easily see Tauru slide in front of him and I think some might prefer enough others to him to see him slide as late as 10 or 11. Unlikely but it wouldn’t shock me. He had a fairly underwhelming champs compared to the rest of the perceived top 10 in this draft and had no real excuse...
7 and 8 are still in the highest potential sweet spot in this draft.
15 and 16 are in the solid - really good depth realm but but not the same probability that those players may end up elite.
With Dalrymple on board I’d be sticking fat with what they have if I was St Kilda
I think Melbourne are elite at climbing to the top of the draft and getting who they targeted. No way I can see your team dropping back - just not your modus operendi. Honestly - you have one of the best in class at negotiating up to elite picks at the pointy end of the draft.
