Amazing news
If you keep sending spuds down the highway, that's the end result.
Additionally, it's a league wide issue that "sellouts" average about 80% of capacity due to high levels of no shows for season tickets. Not sure how to fix the problem, but the AFL has the same issue with...
I don't think it will change that much. My guess is Nathan Brown upgraded to PBP and Daisy Thomas slots in for expert commentary. Or Leigh Montagna for PBP and Browny stays put.
I will add to this topic, if you think Ch7/Fox paid through the arse for the rights and didn't get a later GF time locked in a contract, you've got rocks in your head. It's not Dillon's choice either.....the AFL comission decides the start time.
It's a league wide problem. Combined with AFL pushing reserved tickets being sold months before the game rather than letting people rock up GA on the day.
Not sure whether the league has the balls to take on this challenge, otherwise we will continue to have sellouts with 80% capacity taken...
5pm is late enough that the sun has set behind the ponsford stand. 3.20pm is the worst time for this, but 4.45 to 5pm it's generally low enough but still has light.
Massive non-issue.
The beauty of the olympic park area is its walking proximity to multiple trian lines, as well as the CBD. 100k + 60k would be the absolute worst case for back to back sat/sun games. Reality is, if one game finishes at 4pm and the next starts at 4pm, then most people will...
It makes too much sense.
Marvel Stadium cuts off docklands from the CBD, and is prime land ripe for development. The land alone is worth the cost of building a new stadium.
Gosch's Paddock is never not going to be a park or footy oval. So makes for the perfect cheap spot to build it.
If...
It's not that interesting. Radio rights are secondary to the TV rights in every regard.
Once TV sorts out regular scheduling of their commentators, those who want to do additional work will then negoatiate a radio deal afterwards. If Fox/7 haven't locked in their comms, radio has to wait.
Happy to be proven wrong over the next 10 days but….
GWS have made Sydney and Brisbane look better than they really are. Think both will lose this week. Port match up well on the Swans and also fired up.
Any cats member with a barcode should be eligible to buy at 10am today. If you're one of the 90k, you're a member.
The only differentiation is given to the GF ballot
4.35 is the H+A slot because it leads directly into the 7.30pm FTA gmae
Ch7 always want the games to start as late as possible in finals to maximise $$$, and 5.15 is about as late as Brisbane can play and still fly home that night. If we were playing a VIC team the game would be at 7.30.
Every 2nd GF should be interstate. The sooner we move to fully nationalising the comp, the sooner we can remove all of the conveniant excuses other teams create for simply not being good enough.
Yes, E-Gate would be another good spot for a stadium, but I prefer the Gosch's Paddock location purely because it would centralise all sporting events into the one precinct.
There's also too much complaning about going from Richmond to Spencer St for a game of footy. Imagine if they had to go...
JUH got stolen from us and given to the dogs. We also play less home games than any other club.
If you keep making excuses, you don't get better. See Carlton over the past 25 years as example #1.
If the AFL sold Marvel and used the money to develop Gosch's Paddock, this is what could be done:
1. Based on Marvel Stadium's Footprint
2. Based on Kardinia Park's Footprint
So the space is there (just). The stadium could be used as Melbourne's training ground. Keep the MCC and AFL happy...
