Why are Collingwood suddenly "frontrunners"? Surely North can and would offer more than them or anyone else. Not sure why it seems North are not at the forefront of this.
Not sure how he was "typecast" as a wing/hb when he never played there (at Port). We'll never know how good he might have been if he was. I suspect he could have been a real weapon.
My main takeaway from the game is just how well coached and well drilled both sides are, even Sydney despite being completely outclassed today. We are miles off it, such an indictment of our coaching and admin that we are a perennially untrustworthy team with no effective game plan after so long...
Not liking the talk of having to get the 2 1st round picks for Houston so we can use one for Lukosius. He's not worth a 1st rounder, for all his supposed elite attributes he's been pretty much a complete flop and seems to lack the mindset to be a dominant player. A 2nd rounder at most.
Feel a bit sorry for Trent, spent his whole time at Port being played out of position and never used in a role that made best use of his strengths. He was quick and an excellent kick but was forced to run around trying to nullify much bigger key forwards. Probably did better at it than anyone...
I don't disagree, but that would probably just make him more of a pariah with those losers than he already is and not actually achieve anything. Not that I don't want him to throw his weight around and make the case for change, I definitely do. It's so hard when the people running the place are...
Great to get up under the circumstances, intensity was where it should be. But Jeez we make it hard for ourselves, probably should have won by 4 or 5 goals, no method going forward as usual...kept going long up the line in the last 10 minutes which was just giving the ball back to them, no...
I think Hawthorn could be quite easily derailed by a disciplined, hard-working side with an effective game plan, but that's not us so I can't see us winning. Losing Houston is a huge blow, Farrell to a lesser extent - we now don't have one defender I'd trust with ball in hand. We need to use it...
I'm liking the suggestions that Ken will be gone in the event of a straight sets exit next week, but I don't believe it. Under this regime making finals = success and entitles Ken to continue as contracted. And if we have an unlikely win he'll be lauded like the second coming for getting the...
No reason to be surprised. We have a talented but frontrunning midfield, a B grade forward line and a B grade defense. Unless the midfield dominates we'll never get it done against serious opposition. A lack of guts and pride in the jumper permeates the entire group. The sad part is never...
So did I. I still think this is a false dawn though. Carlton and Melbourne aren't that great, the Sydney game was an outlier for both clubs and the Crows are 15th for a reason. In 3 of those last 4 games we didn't play very well but showed some grit and fight. No-one has been entirely convincing...
I'm confident Hinkleyball won't result in more than a couple more wins. Unfortunately that'll be enough to make the 8, and making finals even for one lousy week is the new premiership down at Alberton under this regime.
Most likely scenario now: we jag the 1 or 2 more wins needed to scrape into the finals, bomb out in the first week, high fives all round because it's such a herculean task just to make the 8. I thought the tough run home might do us a favour but eff me, the self-absorbed loser is going to do it...
Typical Port win over the past decade. Struggle against a lowly opponent, extend the margin toward the end, backslapping all round, good win, ignore all the glaring issues, did what we had to do, blah blah blah. Maintain anything like that level of performance and we'll lose every game for the...
Looking at the run home, there's every chance we don't make the 8. This would be something to celebrate if it meant the pressure would ramp up on Hinkley and the enablers, but it won't. It'll be...tough comp...injuries...nothing to see here...get some learnings...stability...hopefully we'll play...
* YAWN *
Another game pans out exactly as expected with Hinkley and his bargain basement assistants at the helm. Not much point getting into particulars as it's all been said before, but it astounds me how bad this team is when the ball hits the ground in the backline, they're never in the...
I'm sure it's all been said by now, but that was garbage from start to finish. All the usual ingredients: constantly second to the ball, dumb bomb and hope game plan, our spuds making their spuds look like A-graders...and of course Ken wandering around on the sidelines, hands in pockets, looking...
Good to see Burton dropped, long overdue. He has zero presence or impact and needs a massive kick up the arse. Fully expect him to play a mediocre game for the Magpies and come straight back in next week, that's how Ken rolls.
I hope Aliir comes up, don't want Clurey coming in...he had to play...
Another textbook example of Hinkleyball. Jagged the win through a couple of individual efforts. The massive flaws will be papered over by a "gutsy" win. Ken is like a millstone around the team's neck, there'll be no success until he's gone. I wonder how good this side could be with a quality coach.
Not even making an attempt to have a proper process and get the best possible person would be a total abrogation of their duty as custodians of the club. In other words, an utterly typical Port move under the current administration.
Sloppy, spiritless, error-ridden performance. Unless there's a huge 2nd half turnaround (and how often does this team come from behind to win?), this will be completely typical and thoroughly deserved loss.
And then it'll be "oh it's only round 2, why all the negativity?" :drunk:
