Tim May bowled magnificently on the 1993 Ashes tour of England. Made some of the English players (who were bought up on a diet of off spin) look stupid.
Took 21 wickets @ 28. Formed a great combo with Warne on that tour.
Tony Mann is probably more recognised for his test century (105) at Perth in 77/78 when he went in as night watchman.
Was dropped after the 4th test (bagged a pair and took 0-101). Never played test cricket again.
Ironically he was replaced in the test side by Bruce Yardley .
Reminds me of a story from the 1970's.
The Australian players were advocating for more money (prior to WSC) and at that time, a NSW Cricket Administrator came out in the media and said (something to the extent of) "there's 500,000 blokes who would play test cricket for Australia for nothing"...
Me and a couple of mates played golf at a country location a couple of weeks ago (I wont mention the course but its a good one about an hour out of the city)
We had prebooked and were told to being cash to pay for the round as it was a Sunday and the club was not staffed on Sundays (there was a...
So true..
My son in law works in the Public Service. He said its almost impossible to get the sack, even if you wanted to.
BTW some of the perks he gets (they get) are unbelievable. He gets 6 weeks annual leave and can take an extra 2 weeks on top of that at half pay; can salary...
What is interesting is that Ussie did nothing different to what the Indian openers would have done if they were in the same position.
Or any batsman for that matter.
Every batsman wastes time just before a break or just before stumps. JFC, even Jadeja called for a fresh pair of gloves...
For the record, IMHO Konstas needs to reign it in a touch.
But don't give me this respect BS when the Indian players have never shown any respect for their opponents.
You cant be serious that your OK with Kohli's shouldering of Konstas then?
Peter Crouch used to play for Liverpool in the EPL. Crouchy was no looker, in fact he was a shocker.
He was once asked by a reporter 'what would you be if you weren't a professional football player'?
His answer. 'A virgin'
What I cant stand is the double standards given to Kohli by the media and (Indian) cricket fans in general
Might have the aussie glasses on but it seems that he can carry on like a dickhead and everyone seems to love it (oh, he's a competitive beast etc). Yet if an Australian player carried on...
Lara was amazing. Had to be my favourite overseas player to watch
How the hell he could whip a ball through any part of the field with that back lift of his still has me in aura of him.
We were very lucky to see him; VVS; Sachin; Ponting et al during that era.
Don't forget also Sherb, back in those days the touring Australians played against every county as well.
I assume the great DKL may have played in some of these?
I think on the 1977 Ashes tour, the Aussies played a total of 32 first class matches (including the 5 tests).
