Cooper Hamilton is now playing in the Goulburn Valley League. Wishing him the best and hope he continues his social media antics
Delisted GWS midfielder Cooper Hamilton has landed with Victorian local club Rochester for the 2025 season in the Goulburn Valley Football Netball League...
The media publicity continues - I never heard of this YouTuber but seems his viewing audience is more than our country’s population
One of the biggest live streamers on the planet has gatecrashed GWS Giants training, challenging players to races and showing off surprisingly solid footy skills...
However, these games at Manuka will probably be a sellout, so there’s no incentive for the AFL to fixture some of the more popular teams here? Saying that I am happy for the Giants to play any team!
Seems our fixture is assessed as the 8th hardest.
Play twice: West Coast, St Kilda, Western Bulldogs, Sydney, Geelong, Gold Coast
First four: Collingwood (H), Melbourne (A), Hawthorn (A), West Coast (H)
Last three: North Melbourne (H), Gold Coast (A), St Kilda (H)
Byes: Round two, round 16...
Our 3 Canberra home matches feature Bulldogs, Port and North.

An article on the trend of clubs delisting players but committing to rookie list them
Former Port Adelaide champion Kane Cornes and Hawthorn player Daniel Harfordboth called the rule a "farce", pleading with the AFL to alter its laws...
Tom Boyd, one of our number 1 draft picks, reflecting on leaving the game and forgoing $2 million of his contract
“Walking away from a couple of million dollars at the age of 23 when it seems like I basically got the greatest existence the world has ever given anyone. I mean that not in an...
AFL analysis of the AFLW fixtures. We had the 6th hardest fixture and played 5 of the finalists
https://www.afl.com.au/aflw/news/1253010/whose-fixture-was-hardest-brisbane-lions-capitalise-on-dream-run
How depressing! We lost Port 42 (6.6) to 43 (7.1) in Adelaide after leading all afternoon - except for literally the final minute of the game when Port scored a goal.
We finished the 2024 AFLW season 16th with 1 win, 1 draw and 9 losses. Our worst ever season in AFLW history in terms of the...
someone from North will have more info, but I thought their long term plan after knocking back the AFL’s plan to relocate to the Gold Coast, was to play all games eventually in Melbourne- Hobart was to be a short term arrangement to obtain $ to enable this? Presumably the selling of 2 games to...
Good point. The AFL needs a team in Gold Coast - the number of places that have a population that can support a full time AFL team is very limited, especially outside VIC, Wa and SA.
Fox Sports views on what constitutes minimum success for each team in 2025. I want us to win our inaugural premiership, but may need to aim a bit lower!
GWS GIANTS
Pass mark: Make a preliminary final
The Giants are the hardest of the 18 teams to gain a reading on for a pass mark in 2025. The...
AFL website has an interesting article on the biggest draft success and failures for the last 10 years
Biggest hit: Sam Taylor, pick 28, 2017
Biggest miss: Jarrod Pickett, pick 4, 2014
After six wins in its third season in the League, the Giants had a healthy hand going to the 2014 draft and...
Sen’s view on the player(s) at each club who need to go to the next level in 2025
Leek Aleer and Jake Stringer
It feels like 2025 could be the season that the freakishly athletic Leek Aleer explodes.
The 23-year-old played eight games in 2024 and showed some of his enormous potential...
Does the mooted North Melbourne deal to play 2 additional games in WA, increase the chances of WA3 as team 20? Or does it decrease their chances, with the AFL content with having the 2 existing WA teams and supplementing by having Victorian teams selling a couple of additional “home” games to...
The website is continuing with its series of the top 10 draft picks over previous years. As with others here in this thread, it is very positive about our pick of Whitfield in the 2012 draft. We had the top 3 picks in that draft (and Bulldogs took Stringer as a 5th pick), although maybe the pick...
A stroll down memory lane! We had 8 of the top 10 picks in the 2011 draft - although this article is critical of our choice of Patton as the number 1 draft pick
1 - Jonathon Patton (GWS)
A member of the AIS (Australian Institute of Sport) AFL academy and a dominant junior key forward, it was a...
Pics from Lachie Whitfield’s glamorous wedding in Victoria. Congrats and hopefully more father-son and father- daughter picks for us in future years!

For those interested, this is our AFLW history. We are an inaugural AFLW club, and are one of just 8 clubs that have played in all 9 AFLW seasons. 2020 is our only winning season, and the one and only occasion we made the final series (the final 8 series only started on 2020 - in the first two...
The match report. Seems the crowd at Henson was 1,335 - our highest home crowd of the 3 matches there (beating the 1,061 we got against Adelaide and the 938 vs West Coast)
https://www.afl.com.au/aflw/news/1248885/dockers-sink-giants-to-lock-up-finals-spot
Another comprehensive loss as Fremantle (Walyalup) beat us 55 (7.13) to 25 (4.1) at Henson Park. With a probable loss to Port in Adelaide in our final match next week, we will end the season with a one win (and 1 draw) season in 2024. Very disappointing after our 72-9 mauling of the Bulldogs to...
Noting of course that the crowds our women team have got at Manuka is significantly more than that at Henson! :-)…
but seriously, Henson is not where I think we should be playing the Sydney aflw games - I don’t know why our club didn’t want to play a couple of AFLW games at BISP?
I don’t know why they say that Fahey is uncontracted? Thought he was signed to us till 2025?

With his third son due next month, Ward is selling his $5 million North Bondi home. He’s also selling his $2 million Brontë investment. May herald that next year will probably be his last with us
Ward, 34, last month signed on for his 18th season in the AFL, but had been weighing up a move back...
Yes, hope we get a good crowd for the final game. However, given it’s against Fremantle and with us currently having just 1 win this season, not sure how many will turn up?
Crowds for our 2024 AFLW matches
2,003 vs Bulldogs at Manuka
1,507 vs Gold Coast at Manuka
1,061 vs Adelaide at Henson...
Despite our stirring first quarter, a comprehensive 24 (3.6) to 61 (9.7) defeat in the end to the Hawks. After the first quarter, we only scored 9 points to the Hawks’s 48. Our last home game against Fremantle is next week, so hopefully a good crowd and a better result.
Analysis by the ABC of the incident and possible adverse impact on our reputation as well as the relationship with the AFLW team
The Giants' male AFL players are on leave now, but when they return to the club and cross paths with the women in the organisation, one imagines they will do so with...
