it happens. merely pointing out that it's quite uncommon for an 18y.o to spend their entire draft year playing VFL/SANFL/WAFL football.
i have no idea how to easily compare the two, but it is prob worth noting that the degree of difficulty for an 18y.o playing in reserves level football is not...
yeh, after having done an AFL preseason, are in a professional environment, not having to worry about school etc etc.
compare apples with apples.
which under 18y.o, performed "right off the bat" in the VFL during their draft year?

it's so hard trying to make player comps. all players end up being unique in their own right.
we're better off trying to compare styles, attributes when discussing draftees rather than "he's the next X".
I see traits of Dangerfield in Horne's game, but by the same token, those traits were...
Hi guys, my latest post is below. Check it other posts at: https://breakinglines.substack.com/
Around 2013 Indiana Pacers centre Roy Hibbert was anchoring one of the NBA’s best defences. He was making All-Star teams and in contention for Defensive Player of the Year awards. Barely a few...
An uncontracted Treloar was prev traded for two top 10 picks.
When a player is contracted and the other team does not want to trade you him, you generally have to offer v.compelling compensation. Which typically means overs. Of course, doesnt mean we have to make that offer, but just making the...
I actually think id prob pay up if we could do a deal like that.
ie, IF we can give up say 7+8 for Dunkley + WB future 2nd rounder. I think id do it.
Draft picks look sexy. Before they are used, we let our imaginations run wild in terms of what sort of player they could yield and dream about...
I agree. Paying that price would be crazy.
I just dont think 1 first round pick and a late pick will be enough.
Let's say it's a 1st this yr and our future 2nd, what will our future 2nd be next yr? pick between 25-30, perhaps later after compo picks inserted etc? If i'm WB i would not do...
I'll reiterate. I'm not quoting what sort of deal I want the Bombers to do or what I think is a fair deal.
Dunkley is contracted for 2yrs.
I'm predicting what it will take to get him. We will have to pay through the nose to get Dunkley.
Who I would be targetting:
Key Forward:
-Ben Brown
-Peter Wright
Midfielder
-Will Brodie
-Fiorini
-Dunkley if a trade can be done
Defender:
-Alir Alir
-Tom McDonald (put him in defense)
others:
-Stephenson depending on price
-Jordan Clark
I think there is def something to the rumors but let's be clear. I dont believe he is unhappy at the WB etc. I think Dodoro needs a trade win and we also need an inside mid. I think he put a monster contract to Dunkley and that has obviously got Dunkley's eyes looking sideways.
I agree with...
That's one possibility.
Another is ensuring the Dogs have enough draft picks to trade up to pick 1 or 2 (presuming the Crows get pick 2 Crouch compo).
Let's say we sent picks 7+8 for Dunkley + a future 2nd.
The Dogs could then send picks 7+8 to the Crows picks 1 or 2. That means they could...
If we want Dunkley, we will have to overpay.
Clubs are not afraid of keeping contracted players who have asked out these days.
WB will not trade Dunkley unless we make an extremely compelling offer.
Simply offering a top 10 pick and another late pick is not going to be enough. Odds would...
If we get pick 7 in the deal I expect it to be similar to the Jake Carlisle trade (- St Kilda receives Carlisle and pick No.14 and gives up pick No.5 and pick No.24;)
Rubbish.
Every player has a price at which point you walk away from.
I think Carlton would be mad to trade pick 7 essentially straight up for an out of contract Saad. Great if we get it though, of course.
Hi Guys,
didn't know quite where to post this. Here is the latest post from my newsletter:

In 2011 the Los Angeles Angels signed Albert Pujols to what was then one of the richest contracts in baseball history...
I dont think there's any doubt over what the intention of interviews are.
My assertion is that they prob dont yield the info you want and potentially result in bad outcomes for reasons I stated.
p.s-I used to be obsessed with FM lol
agree. i think something as strange as "really likes to read" or plays the piano etc can be viewed as "are they really dedicated to footy. do they love it??"
