Ah yes. Good to see someone's paying attention. I tell ya, Henry getting back to that early season form would make a big difference by itself. I also think Ross' plan was to rotate him through the mids, which would be very helpful.

    Preview Round 11, 2024: Melbourne v St.Kilda - MCG - Sunday 26th May, 3.20pm AEST

The toll from the Collingwood game was catastrophic and changed the course of our season. We were already carrying a lot of injured players at that point, and we have less depth than last year. So those three broke the camel's back (i think the three were actually Heny Wood and Windy (susp.)).

Agreed. We desperately need a small forward in the team. Not a small mid/HBF who we put in the forward line; an actual small forward.

St Kilda legend Nick Riewoldt criticises Max King’s lack of forward craft as form slumps The Saints are struggling to both score and win, and a former champion says their issues start with a lack of forward cohesion, starting with the form of their spearhead, Max King. St Kilda champion Nick...

To be an RFA he has to be in the top 25% of earners on the Saints list. I doubt he's in that bracket b/c his position in the side was quite uncertain until a couple of years ago, so we would have signed him relatively cheaply. Almost certainly a UFA.

I sat right behind the Collingwood cheer squad at Vic Park in the 80s when we lost by 120-ish. Was not as bad as you'd think, because they were all pretty happy.

Agreed! I was down the other end and thought he was a lot further out. I was right where the consecutive "not 15" decisions were made. After the game, we went for a drink in the foyer of the fancy hotel nearby. Place was packed with Hawks fans. The umpires walked in to go up to their rooms and...

    Autopsy Round 8, 2024: St.Kilda v North Melbourne

Don't mind this theory, but unfortunately the Hawks knocked off the Eagles by 120 points last year and then rolled into Marvel and knocked us off the next week.

I have been thinking all week that last week's game from a Port point of view was similar to our game against Collingwood - good win, but came at a huge price. They lost SPP and Aliir Aliir and had Rozee on one leg last night against a fired up Adelaide. Their goal kicking is also a huge problem.

I've watched a bit of Essendon. Gresh is fit and getting a lot of the ball, and he's even kicked a few nice goals, but his turnovers are comical. I'm not missing him one bit.

In fairness, Caydyn Beetham had a ridiculous amount of talent. Just didn't want to do the work, and plenty of people around him would have told the Saints recruiters if they'd asked!

Just coming in here because I haven't received enough abuse in my life recently. I think the Higgins decision was right. I see some comments in here about how decisions like that a ruining the game, but the fact is that Higgins' wrist grip is a move adapted from the grappling martial arts like...

Rod Owen debuted at 16. Had a full-blown addiction and serious mental health issues not long afterwards. I mean, just to even the ledger out here. Anyway, I think Collard could play some footy this year, but I'd rather see us develop him in the twos for the moment. He can now play a string of...

I'm thinking the opposite way to most on here - make the minimum number of changes - King for Higgins. Move Stocker into the midfield rotations, Hugo takes Higgo's spot in the forward line playing a pressure forward role. Everyone who played at Sandy stays there to keep building form, with the...

My preference would be for no unforced changes. The best thing we could do is keep them all at Sandy for the next two weeks and make them bang the door down while we back the current group to beat Norf and the Hawks (though we probably have to bring in King and a small to cover Higgins).

The 2020 draft was a crap shoot. Thank god we didn't have three picks in the top 10 in that draft. No single club would have been dumb enough to invest so heavily in a Covid affected draft, right?

My thoughts on the game: I'm a big Jones fan, but I thought he was horrid, especially in the first half. Flat footed, tackling like he had lettuce for arms, etc. Of course, Jones is carrying a big load with a few others because of our weak midfield. Last year, most of our injuries were forward...

Stuff like that is much easier for everyone to analyse than the actual game, which is actually hard work. I made the mistake of watching the Sunday Footy Show yesterday and Nathan Brown was doing...
