    Superannuation/Salary Sacrifice

A lot of people go into retirement with a mortgage, and considering the size of mortgages people are taking out at the moment, having a mortgage at retirement may be quite common going forward. In my opinion, it's always better to have a healthy super balance + mortgage as opposed to a paid-off...

I've remained invested during the rally, but I haven't been increasing any positions above and beyond my auto-deposits/buys. I'm particularly nervous about next year; there feels like a number of foreign risks that are coming to a head.

Have we in recent memory been this exposed to a injury to our number 1 keeper? Or is this the nature of the position, depth at a keeper level is always the guy out to pasture and a kid.

I believe that Boards are often too big, though I see their value assuming they're staffed appropriately. Quite often, their main function should be to apply breaks, to ask "why" questions of management, and to ensure that alternative decisions have been fleshed out. The single biggest threat to...

Mining assets that feed into EV's (Copper etc) are getting hit after the trump presidency, which almost feels like a buying opportunity considering the well documented shortages coming.

    Best place to park $80,000?

Right, which is an opinion you communicated repeatedly in this thread over an extended period of time. There is a point where the repetition is a sales/pumping exercise.

    Best place to park $80,000?

Correct. I suppose techinically it is an option worth considering in terms of the topic of this thread but it shouldn't become a Crypto pumping exercise, as you said, there is a board for that.

Agreed, no end product but I think there is value in him being in the squad and playing games like this where he has the defender covered. The issue is when we have a bad game, Timo is easy to blame because when the defender has him covered, he’s the biggest passenger out there. Sent from my...

It's more challenging being a Spurs supporter than Freo.. I get its the first game, but the top sides will be out of site within the first handful of games, more so this year than in the past, as the gulf between the top, middle and bottom gets bigger.

Have you looked into the EFT side? How are those returns compared to a large producer? I have a hard time with the explorers, I feel the only people that make bank are the insiders.

How much savings do you have?

I've fact-checked it through my own personal experience. To be fair, I was referring to the party hostels that draw people in their 20s from around the world; I am aware of hostels that are aimed at families and travellers on tight budgets.

How much savings do you have?

Is 5% locked in that bad a return? What does the rental cost of a typical rental unit look like when you factor in maintenance, interest, the risk of not having tenants for a period of time, etc.? Plus your own personal time invested. Given 300k today, I'd probably lean 5% interest for 12...

    Investing for your kids

I was thinking about this the other day. I've started to realize that I'm often making a financial decision between investing in my children's future (EFT/savings) and spending money on extracurricular activities (sports/music/family/educational help, etc.). Initially, when the kids were young...

    Ideas to retire/work less earlier

Agreed. Diligently contributing to super and then identifying a part-time job later in life that you don't mind is an achievable goal for most people and allows for the slowdown people desire.
