Jamie Brooker has been announced as a new player for De La Salle in Premier Division. Close to 100 goals across the last 2 seasons according to the announcement, huge loss for SMD I'd imagine.
Those that have watched him closely, how do you think he will go? Stepping up quite a few grades...
Agree with that take, 2/2 works well in the VAFA due to the size of the comp. One of the major downfalls of the model is historically the 'runner-up' promoted side finds it quite difficult the next season in the higher grade (especially at the pointy end).
A major positive is that there are...
If you get a chance, scroll back (maybe 2024 board or VAFA general discussion) and read the statement from the president that was posted. Some very interesting statements were made about how he thought moving to the EFL would help his club and it's standing within the community.
I didn't agree...
Wasn't that long ago that De La 2's (some just out of 19's) were being offered silly money to go and play in Div 3 EFL and SFL. We let them go, never look a gift horse in the mouth.
Eley Park did top up the 2's with a number of masters players.
Credit to the club though as they didn't throw in the towel unlike the more prestigious teams further up the grades.
Powerhouse surely right in flag contention, as long as it doesn't completely fall apart at the pointy end as it...
That caught my eye too, watching them last year the list was built up of older players and most likely requires another full year of Under 25's coming through to build that depth.
Where is Masala? Have we seen the last of them in the senior ranks?
The release did say it may be subject to...
Don't bank on De La heading back to the metro masters. Decision to join the VAFA was partly due to the excess travel required in the masters comp.
Travel time longer than the actual game doesn't really make any sense.
John Brown announced as the new Senior Coach of East Malvern. Former coach at Frankston Bombers and prior to that Rowville.
A handy addition at the zoo.
I noticed they gave out a league B&F award in the Masters, yet I can't find anything on the VAFA website as to who won the Grand Final. The website has the game listed for 3pm on August 18, with only 3 or 4 teams did the league not bother with the GF?
Anyone got any info on this or has the...
Ok, just re-read the original post. I mistook 'Unannounced' to mean players not formally announced but incoming, not players yet to recommit from 2024.
I'm now waiting to see if the VAFA have a liquor licence for EP that allows them to sell alcohol during a weekday/business hours.
Would be the final piece in the puzzle in what has been an administrative nightmare this finals series for those at HQ.
To add to your mentone point, the side this year was made up of quite an older list. I couldn't see that being sustainable going forward, nor did I see the depth required to field 2 senior teams in D3
The Big One
OH v DLS
Firstly congratulations to both sides in making the grand final and being promoted to Premier A. At the start of the season both clubs would've had that as their prime objective in 2024. As both camps have said this week, promotion is for the club, premierships are for the...
Have we actually got a statement from the VAFA that says the 50 was paid due to spectators running onto the ground? Or was it OC players within the protected area that weren't self aware that a FK had been paid?
Because if it's the latter, then the umpire is 100% correct to award the 50m...
Got to watch them a few times in the back half of the season. Can't say I've seen a more uncompetitive outfit ever running around for the Sharks. If they think they fly through C based on that they are kidding themselves.
Prem B and C grade GF's at Sandy?
Can't for the life of me work out why Prem B isn't at Elsternwick Park on the Sunday. Premier Womans fixtures seem to have the prime Sunday slot at HQ.
Wattle Park requested to come up a grade last year and unfortunately get relegated, while Canterbury asked to stay down in D3 and will now be promoted.
Was anyone at the U/19 Div 2 GF yesterday at La Trobe?
Free kick and 50m penalty after the siren to allow Uni Blues to kick the match winning goal and walk away with a 1 point win.
