Hi Blue_Boys,
Of all the video published weekly on afl.com, only "live" events and "full match replays" are exclusive to BigPond customers.
What's available to every broadband user in Australia:
All highlight clips eg. Best Marks, Best Goals, Round Rewound
All 1/4 by 1/4 highlights for every...
Users are experiencing difficulty in accessing www.afl.com.au.
For fans that need to make changes to their fantasy football teams go direct to:
Fantasy Football: http://afl.virtualsports.com.au/
A direct URL for footytips is coming shortly.

Hi,
I'm back ... I've been in hospital (knee recon).
To set the record straight, it's BigPond (and probably the AFL) that you should direct your thoughts towards. As Linda rightly says, there are lots of providers to afl.com.au, providing a complex and different range of services.
One quick...
VanBerlo,
Sorry to do this in the public domain ... but I'm trying to respnod to your private messages to me but I keep getting:
VanBerlo=God has chosen not to receive private messages ... Therefore you may not send your message to him/her.
Cheers,
Sandy
Hi Everyone,
Few responses to attend to since last week:
Croucher on page 73 makes a comment about contacting the AFL direct…
I’m so sorry Croucher, I swear I pasted the correct URL to get in touch with the AFL … it’s actually http://telstra.com/subscriptions/afl/contactus/feedbackchoice.asp...
Hi phoenix_rise,
We double checked the entire feed coming from the grounds --> SOC --> our encoders. We were pushing out exactly what SOC was receiving.
We contacted SEN and they were going to check "on ground" though they initially didn't think there was any problem.
I wasn't able to...
Update...
We've called the SOC (national radio operations centre) where the source feed comes from. They've identified it being with SEN. We're calling them to check now...
Cheers,
Sandy
Hi Sandola,
We've noticed this too. We take a XML feed from ChampionData. If something is factually incorrect in the feed, we have to get a second feed with corrected data.
The way caching works is you could see the error unless you hard refresh or the cache gets flushed.
We're talking...
Hi Croucher,
"Help" sections of sites have typically been in the header and footer for years, those locations pretty much being the defacto standard.
In the footer of every page of afl.com.au at http://telstra.com/subscriptions/afl/contactus/feedbackchoice.asp, there is a button there to...
Peechers,
I did not say the problem is always the customer.
Deploying complex web sites, the problems are generally everywhere, including ours. But also including PC's. You oughta know that from spending those years on an internet tech desk (which I did two years by the way in the early...
Borgsta,
Come on mate, this is hassling for hassling sakes. You using Opera. We don't support Opera and you know that.
Both iterations of afl.com.au and www.afl.com.au work in IE and FF.
Cheers,
Sandy
Hi All,
So many posts to comment upon so am merging them all into one response...
vanberlo comments on sla's...
We have a multitude of SLA's in place but the one I was specifically referring to last night was that we don't have a direct relationship with ChampionData for stats. That...
Hey Hawkers,
Not sure I can repond to the above comments ...
However when you say KPIs, we measure so many and obviously I'm not at liberty to share them with this group. What I can say is we're up on some basic core measurements like unique visitors, page impressions, video streams, etc...
WS,
On the "quality/proof reading", I concur, and I will give a bollocking to those people.
I'm a fraction stuck with a couple of providers though because we don't have SLA's in place (service level agreements). The reason we don't is that they are agreements between the provider and the AFL...
Hi WebSurfing,
For the live audio for GameDayLive, we take a XML feed from ChampionData and they currently have 3AW listed even though they're actually sending through a MMM stream. That's why you're seeing 3AW instead of MMM in GameDayLive as an audio option.
It's being changed by...
Hi Paul,
Coming from V8 Supercars and the amount of video we did on that site when I was the EP, and do now, I'm really disappointed with your review.
I take video very seriously and am shocked to hear your experience has been that bad.
I will do a review this weekend and come back to you...
Hey all,
We've changed the ladder to present the % with two decimal points.
This came up yesterday.

Hey don'tbowlthere,
Do you mean "simple live scores on a simple HTML page" or do you mean actual stats post the game?
If you mean the former, aiming for 10 May (don't quote me ... I've got a gazillion dates in my head and I don't have the schedule in front of me).
Is that what you meant...
Hi Linda,
Thanks for your thoughts, let me address them.
Firstly, the site is designed, and content created and maintained, by Melbourne companies. AAP is the only Sydney company that provides content onto AFL.com.au. General content, editorial, stats, design, UI, video programs (eg...
Hi SausageRoll,
There are separate links now to just audio if you don't want to use GameDayLive.
Not sure why your browser is crashing ... and it's a bit hard for me to help without knowing the circumstances that might be causing the crash.
Page weight is being worked on. It's definitely...
Hi
BigPond TV is a media player that my group (sport) is currently required to use. I don't have at my fingertips, the reason why this player is IE supported only. I'll need to find out.
I'm in two minds about the power of external media players vs the power of embedded players.
My...
Hi Red+Black,
Yep, you are right ... it's not that the feeds are incorrect, it's just that they're feed from two different sources. We agree it's not optimal so from memory the Team agreed that to remove the scores in the dashboard on the right hand side and keep the InGameBar scores.
That's...
We have WebCentral on the case right now... (all the infrastructure is hosted there).
It looks like the database has pegged itself for no apparent reason. It normally runs around 15-25% and has been stable all weekend. At around 7pm tonight, it went up to 100%. At this moment in time...
Paul, you clearly havent' been involved in a large scale website with multiple feeds from multiple sources.
When I say 30 there are:
16 Clubs that manage and edit and maintain their own sites
Company for tipping
Company for vapour
Company for editorial
COmpany for news
Company for dev
Company...
