The site might work well after a national upgrade of the nation's fibre optic data lines but with our current transmission speed's its a disaster.
It might also work well in the CBD's with bigger data line's thats fine while CBD workers are at work using systems with big hub's etc but leave that environment like when people are at home in the suburbs or the country the AFL site is a nightmare and one I visit a lot less now than I used to.
Problem seems to be their are to many scripts running that seem to take forever to download and thats just the home page, it gets worse when you navigate futher into the site and usualy ends with me hitting ctrl/alt/del and rebooting while telling myself next time go to another site NOT THE AFL SITE.
When trying to look at live stats and that like I tried Sunday on the Dog's v Pies game it was worse. Some stats would'nt even fit in my screen. I'm sure some users have big screens but I'm also sure like me some have small ones.
Please run the site the AFL had 2-3 yrs ago maybe call it AFL classic or something. Because the current site has totally alienated me.

Re: Is there a decent AFL website out there ?

For statisics and news try

http://www.footywire.com/

Good site I just copied some of their stuff onto a spreadsheet and worked out the average density of one of our players is 456 grams per centimetre. Mitch Hahn topped the list at 536 grams per centimetre. Good stuff :thumbsu:

Err, you do know that density measures grams per cubic centimetre??? Funny stuff anyway. So, I guess that what you're asking for is a measure of how much water each player displaces... I can just see it at the 2017 Draft Camp...

what size screen/connection are you using? i am on the slowest broadband available in this land, a 12" ibook and 1024 res and have no problems with the live stats either loading up or fitting completely on my screen.

if anything its the one thing i thought worked best about the site.

though the scoreworm could use some work.

Dodgy....i'm trying to put my footytips in and stupid afl website doesn't work!
How pathetic!
Better work in the next few hours....I have to go to work!!

Well its Friday afternoon. Time to complete my DreamTeam and Footy Tips.

But guess what?? The AFL site is down.

What a joke.

This is ridiculous.

I panic enough about my dreamteam without having this added pressure of not even knowing if i can fret over it for a few hours before it goes into lockdown!! :(

Good to see the site working beautifully today.

For ****s sake get your act together Telstra. The site for the AFL should not be down for at least 6 hours the day the round starts. What a joke. No wonder the statistics posted earlier in the thread show that traffic to the site is down at least 50% over the past two years.

Apologies for the HTML size tags ...

I copied from MS Word and forgot to remove the HTML tags that it happily pastes in.

So...its Sandra now?
Why so formal? Just when I thought we had something special.
Beach jokes getting to you? I heard one, something about Sandy in yer crack. Not that I take drugs to the beach.

I can't get to the site???

I wrote this without the html tags.

'sldavey', further to my posts: 963, 966, 969, 971, 1009, 1060, 1237, 1255:

I went to the Hawthorn and the West Coast Eagles match preview on the AFL site earlier this morning and discovered the win/loss graphics sequence reads right-to-left. Is this intentional or an error? I reckon left-to-right ie Rd1 to Rd8 and so on is the way to go and I'm certain the majority of BigFooty members would agree. Your 'fixtures & results' operates left-to-right. Thoughts anyone...

Also, kindly note for some strange reason 'FUN & GAMES' is highlighted orange, how ironic :).
