Exactly
NONE of those players are exciting and/or capable of ever being "top 5" players at our club. At best they'll be good, ordinary depth players who can do a job.
McQualter should be delisted but I suspect he won't because there are a few ahead of him and we can't get rid of everyone.
For all their weaknesses and inability to win crucial finals (or a premiership), Malthouse and Laidley are the kind of coaches that will prevent Collingwood and North from sliding that far despite the fact I think they have the weakest lists of this year's 8.
The negative supporter in me says...
Good call. Without Lenny we'd be lucky to win a clearance. He is a machine and goes about his footy in a way that would make Robert Harvey proud.
Until his AA selection this year Sam Fisher would've been a worthy nomination too, but he's starting to get the recognition he deserves and will...
Lets be honest here. Only 5 untouchables at the Saints:
Riewoldt
S.Fisher
Hayes
Goddard
Ball
You'd flick everybody else if the price were right (maybe even throw Ball into the mix too).
As We don't have any young players that have shown enough promise to be included on this list.
Time will tell, but I think I finally made a good trade. Kosi out for SJ.
Decent week so far.
1499 from 14 players (107 avg) with some decent names to come:
Chad
Milburn
Shaw
Stevens
Judd (C)
Simmonds
SJ
Chapman
On track for at least 2300 which should push me into the top 500 (currently...
Thoughts on a couple of cheap, underperforming guns that showed a bit on the weekend to give some hope they might finish the season well:
Kane Cornes
Steve Johnson
I'm down to 7 trades and now looking to make direct swaps for Stanton and Kosi and these two are very tempting because I think...
I can either take:
Adam Goodes or Simon Goodwin for my midfield
or
Ryan O'Keefe or Paul Chapman for my forward line
I'm leaning towards the midfield upgrade...
Both would see my getting rid of Bird and Rioli and picking up a rookie.
Thoughts?
3-4 weeks
Could miss as few as 2 home and away matches given there is no footy this week

I think you might be over-reacting a bit?
Was he part of your original plan as a keeper?
I've got him but my view is that I'd rather work on upgrading the likes of Bird, Wona, McKinley, Tippett, Gamble, Rioli etc before I think about upgrading Mattner.
If he happens to be my final upgrade...
Up to 816th
Have 13 trades but only $10k in the bank. Will be burning another 2 trades this round.
Given we're still 10 days out my plan is very tentative, but it looks like it'll be:
OUT - Bird & Rioli
IN - Myers/McNamara & O'Keefe/Chapman
Now to start chosing some good captains...
2204 :thumbsu:
Despite:
- Chosing Judd as captain over Pavlich (was a 50/50 call for me)
- Starting Bird over Wonaeamirri and Browne
- Gamble as emergency instead of Tippett (to replace Brown)
~400 point league win
Back on track after two sub-2000 weeks in a row which dropped me from 224th...
Yep, very hard indeed (especially since I only traded him in last week!).
On the upside, I have Kosi as well and I think the past has shown how well he can score when Roo is out...
Fortunately have McKinley, Tippett and Gamble rotating through the one spot at the moment, so two of them will...
I've found that long term plans tend to quickly get blown out of the water by injuries, suspensions, form slumps, unexpected changes in value etc...
Need to take it "one week at a time" and employ flexibility within a broader framework and strategy, rather than having a set pattern of trades.
Thanks
What about a cheapish (under $500k) forward?
Kosi. 3 good games have run him into form. Saints have no rucks this week and he'll spend some time on the ball. B/E of 39.
NG Brown. Couple of good games and B/E of 67.
Lloyd. Two big games and two shockers. Injury prone(?) and B/E of...
I think Ebert and Selwood are the safest bets. Toss a coin on which one. They should play about 10 games each. The others are all riskier.
You could also consider Armitage who I think has a very good chance of holding his spot, but he's a lot more expensive too and it might become cost...
Would I be out of my mind to trade in both Roo and Dal this week?
I know they are supposedly under injury clouds (although Roo ALWAYS is), but they aren't getting any cheaper.
Ryan O'Keefe went through a similar thing last year.
Got plenty of the ball, was playing pretty good footy on the field but it just wasn't translating into SC scores.
I think the reasons for his drop are two-fold:
1. Less impact than last year equals less of a multiplication effect on his...
Yeah, its definately a tricky one.
The thing is I can't afford to make a double-upgrade using my rookies (NJ Brown, Hartlett, Taylor, Bird, Wona, Gamble, Tippett and McKinley). Also too much value in Rioli and Houli to jump off now.
I think that for the sake of the overall prize race that I...
