Fleming's NZ vs Australia:
0 Wins
5 Draws
9 Losses
4 of those 5 draws were rain affected with Australia in the ascendency. Lots of sporting declarations (from both sides) to try and manufacture a result make the matches look closer than they were.
Absolutely this.
Some years back, I was watching an AFL pre-season game where they must have had the work experience kid running the sound. The commentary feed dropped out for about 10 minutes and it was just the ground effects and umpire mics at louder than normal volume. Was fantastic just...
Re: 5th Ashes Test: Australia v England @ Sydney (Mon - Fri)
Most Runs in Ashes:
DG Bradman 974 @ 139.14 in Eng
WR Hammond 905 @ 113.12 in Aus
MA Taylor 839 @ 93.90 in Eng
DG Bradman 810 @ 90.00 in Aus
DG Bradman 758 @ 94.75 in Eng
AN Cook 753 @ 149.80 in Aus
You don't make 3000 first class runs at 58 opening the batting if you can't handle the short ball. You think no-one thought to bowl short at him in the 5000 odd deliveries he faced before the ashes series?
The South Africans though he had a weakness against short stuff too. Coach came out and...
Murali averages 75 in Australia.
Seriously, off-spin should be banned at under age level in Australia. It's a waste of time. Bowl out of the front of the hand = no ball. :p
I've certainly defended the Adelaide pitch in the past (the results largely speak for themselves), but I personally haven't been a fan of it for the past 3 summers.
I'm sure I remember it misbehaving a lot more going into day 5 and or give a lot more seam movement/bounce day 1 (making you...
Spot on.
To put it in perspective, no one has ever successfully chased down more than 300 runs at greater that 4 an over in the 4th innings in Australia.
In fact, it's only been done 3 times in the entire history of test cricket (1939 games, 133 years). This suggest that it may just be a...
Re: 2nd 3Mobile Test Australia v West Indies @ Adelaide Oval (Fri - Tue)
I could have sworn it was the Basit Ali one too, but I just found it on youtube (Warne compilation) and it's Ritchie commentating.
And that MCG game was an Adelaide "home" final.
What a great reward for finishing 3rd. Get to play your home final at the oppositions home ground (who finished 6th) where you haven't played a single game for the year.
Peter Motley
Used to watch him play down at Unley Oval as a kid and was my favourite player.
It was a long time ago and I was quite young, but I still think he is one of the best players I've ever seen.
His response during a radio interview right after the game was even better. When asked about the hits, he said something along the lines of:
"Yeah, the first one was good. It woke me up a bit. Thought I played better from that point on"

Was just thinking that. Should have gone around the wicked about 18 overs ago, I reckon...
STOP BLEEDING RUNS FFS!
We need to put the breaks on big time here. This is reminiscent of the second test in 2005.
Strauss and Cook have been bloody ordinary and we've just gifted them a 100 run opening session.
