    Hawkins' goalkicking.

To me it just looks like he kicks on the outside of his foot rather than the top. As some here have pointed out it could be because he drops the ball directly in front rather than slightly off centre. This might not interest many of you but many years ago the footwear of choice amongst young...

    Travis Varcoe

:p I'm calling it how I see it and I'm trying to put spin on it? LOL! No one's denying that, yes, he did try to avoid contact at that moment with what appears to be the intent to tap the ball into space so he could run onto it. Too clever, too cute by half - but if he had executed it properly...

    Travis Varcoe

So? I can see for myself that he tried to be way too cute and tap the ball into space before the contact came from McGrath and it didn't work. Epic fail on his part. Nothing to do with a lack of courage. He's not scared of contact at all. He just tried to be too cute and "clean" as someone else...

    Travis Varcoe

I had a chance to finally watch the game last night and waited to see the incident where Trav showed a yellow streak as wide as the Yangtze.... and I kept on waiting..... Then I realized the incident everyone was referring to was when he was in the clear and the ball was kicked over his head and...

Re: Calls for Varcoe to be dropped "He's (Varcoe) been doing the hard work it's good to finally see him get the reward" Cameron Ling after the game. This myth that Trav is lazy is just that - a myth. Nothing more to say.

Re: Calls for Varcoe to be dropped I'm sorry if having Varcoe in the team upsets you Partridge but it was Chris Scott who said that Varcoe's workload has increased this year in a K Rock interview after last week's game. He also said that Varcoe is in the best 18. This is really, really hard...

Re: Calls for Varcoe to be dropped Mmmmm not sure but I wasn't referring to what happened but what players might be expecting. As far as I know perhaps Varcoe himself didn't expect to play this week..... you never know.... but the coaching panel may have changed their mind about dropping him...

Re: Calls for Varcoe to be dropped Anyone else hear that Christensen is facing a fitness test for his hip? Also, I heard that sometimes players don't think they'll get picked in the seniors the following week after being subbed off. There's a possibility that some players are as surprised as...

:thumbsu: Also love watching David Rodan, Adam Goodes, Dustin Fletcher, Brad Sewell, Jonathan Brown Forgot to add a host of Geelong players... but I figured it went without saying. Anyway, I love watching Varcoe in full flight, Bartel is so consistent and Scarlett is as well.

    Bumped Tom Hawkins

I just watched the game and I find it difficult to remember on more than a couple of occasions that Hawkins beat an opponent of similar size in the air, in the ruck or on the ground. My view may not be the same as everyone else's but I generally worry about Hawkins' future in the game. Has...

    Roast Varcoe

Just watched the game. What a piece of stinking poo this thread is. I have no idea what VC expects of Trav yesterday given the conditions and his pre-season but Trav was good. Thread = fail. :thumbsd:

2nds VFL Round 1 - Casey Scorpions v Geelong, Casey Fields, 7:00PM Saturday 2 April

Re: Casey Scorpions v Geelong, Casey Fields, 7:00PM Saturday 2 April THanks for all that. RaptorR said that Blake was good in the ruck but SLAUGHTERED around the ground. You seem to disagree with this. Was Blake bad, good or indifferent? Thanks again in advance :)

Do we now just go with the one ruckman against Sandilands?

In last year's semi-final Sandilands was a cripple with a bung knee. Even Byrnes would have beaten Sandilands in the ruck. Ok, slight exaggeration about Byrnes but Sandilands should not have played. He was gawn. I can't recall any other time in the last 4 years when Ottens has actually played...

Mark Blake - Nuts and Bolts

Yeah, I want to check that too but there would be some record of "effective hit outs resulting in goals" wouldn't there? We have a stat on just about everything these days so why not that? :p What The General was actually saying is that Blake hasn't demonstrated effective marking and kicking...
