The conversation's gotten a bit confused in this thread.
The suggestion of Australian states competing was only in relation to the women's division.
I reckon you could run a great contest between the women's rep sides of NSW, Queensland, USA, Canada and maybe Ireland or someone else from...
The pool games have been played and won.
On Saturday, Denmark will face off with Ireland for the gold medal.
Playing for third are Great Britain and Sweden.
Playing for fifth are Croatia and Iceland, who made their debuts in full-field test footy at this tournament, and came out of...
The way it looks, this round also might have a few blowouts, although maybe not as extreme as the first set of four games.
BUT, then round 3 on Thursday has Ireland vs Sweden and GB vs Denmark, which should be tighter match-ups, and will essentially be the semi finals.
The playoffs, 4th vs...
Providing the internet gods smile upon us, you'll be able to get 1/4 by 1/4 score updates on worldfootynews.com - in the meantime, you can read about each of the squads on WFN via the following links:
Great Britain Bulldogs
Iceland Ravens
Germany Black Eagles
Denmark Vikings
Sweden Elks...
Looks like a third local league in China (depending on whose definition of China you use ;) is on the cards.
The Hong Kong Dragons, Macau Lightning and Pokfulam Vikings will play a triple-header this Saturday at Kai Tak Cricket Ground in Hong Kong... preview will be on WFN before the weekend.
It is very important that the teams at the IC play against different opposition to usual.
If there are 12 in first division and 12 in second, I propose SOMETHING like this - each division has four pools of three teams each.
DIV 1
Pool A - New Zealand, USA, Denmark
Pool B - PNG, Great...
Nothing wrong with being a noob, you have to start somewhere!
This I think will eventually happen, as in the soccer and rugby union world cups. However, at the moment I think the emphasis needs to be on inclusion - involving everyone, including the teams that are very much still in the...
20,000 includes the footywild development kids - but you have to understand that when you're playing footy in the townships it's not really on a club basis.
However, there actually is a list of clubs on the AFLSA website - for North West Province, the clubs/FootyWILD (similar to Auskick)...
Hi Deloise - no, not directly connected with the BJ Bombers. I'm one of the writers at worldfootynews.com
My annoyance wasn't directed at the Bombers or the Tigers - it was directed at the the newspaper for the way the article read :)
Most Aussies don't have any clue that footy's being...
The second article there annoyed me slightly, in that it made it sound like there hasn't been any footy in China until now.
The Shanghai league is new. I'll be completely honest and say that's the first I've heard of it. The Shanghai Tigers have been around for a while, but I didn't know of...
Unfortunately, I think Australian Ammos would still be too far ahead... NZ played against Maffra not all that long ago and got thumped by 200-odd points.
We'll see what happens though.
Hi guys,
There's a list out of the countries who have submitted an official EoI for the 2011 International Cup.
22 official notifications received, plus a further 4 who are in contact with the AFL about the event but haven't submitted a response yet.
The full list is available in this...
Re: West Gippy Latrobe (Part 2)
Correct - I didn't mean the playing surface (which is normal, ie slopes out from the centre) - I meant from the fence away from the ground, it's all uphill.
As someone else said, makes a kind of amphitheatre. Must be about 15 years since I was last...
As promised:
Norway's preview for 2010 is online.
I also forgot to put Iceland, Ireland and Regional England on the last list.
There'll hopefully be reports from London, Wales, Denmark, Scotland, Sweden, Germany, Spain, Switzerland and France before the end of April...
Biggest year...

Cheers, Aaron...
Not directly involved with footy in SE Asia, have visited but only on holidays.
I'm one of the editors for worldfootynews.com - so if you want to know what's going on in international footy or you need something publicised, let me know :)
Try Luke Gosling - I'll PM you his email address.
I haven't heard much from them since last year, but in the meantime have a read of these articles on the Timor-Leste AFL and their rep squad the Timor Crocs:
Timor-Leste Crocs enter Asian Footy
Timor Crocs return to Bali for the 9s...
This got a mention in The Age in Melbourne this morning.
Slightly bigger lineup though, the suggestion was:
West Sydney ressies
GC ressies
Swans ressies
Lions ressies
Territory Thunder
ACT
4 x AFLQ clubs
4 x AFL Sydney teams
I wouldn't have thought the AFL Sydney had enough...
I'm interested to hear what people thought of PNG? I saw them play in Melbourne in 2008 at the International Cup, they were good to watch.
They're fairly equal with NZ as the best Aussie rules national team outside Australia, but NZ got thumped by Maffra (Vic country) by about 20 goals...
Sydney already have Canadian Mike Pyke. Although he was recruited direct from rugby rather than through the Canadian footy leagues.
The Vancouver junior league has put forward a large number of prospects for the World 18, who will compete at the upcoming Australian under 16s state champs.
From the AFL Cairns website:

Game 1 South Cairns 2.4 (16) def. by Manunda Hawks 3.8 (26)
