Definitely true. I know Beams had a quiet game but there were a few times where he was sitting by himself as we're coming out of the back pocket/flank, waving his arms above his head and alone, and the rebounding defender would look to Beams' right (boundary line side) and go to a 2-on-1 contest...
Could Goldsack have been brought in to release Heater into a forward tagging role? We struggled with some run and creativity in getting the ball past the wing last week and Heater would certainly help with this and make either Fisher or Goddard accountable - or is this just reinventing the...
Bit unfair on Josh. He did the same thing in 2007 when his presence against Geelong in the prelim would have got us over the line and into a GF - or at least that's the general consensus.
I'm not trying to make a comparison, I'm trying to make the point that excuses go both ways. We don't tarnish Riewoldt's rep because of the misses but don't give Cloke the same courtesy. Roo set up their last score? Trav kicked ours to put us ahead. Roo ran all over the ground, even taking marks...
Our bodies will be fresher sooner - bigger bodies generally take a bit longer to recover - so we'll be sharper on the track before they are IMO. In terms of mentally I reckon this'll do us the world of good. We cruised through the finals and survived an epic. Saints will be wondering what they...
So what's Riewoldt's excuse? If Cloke isn't entitled to an excuse for his misses, why is Roo? Isn't Riewoldt supposed to be the greatest thing since sliced bread? Last I heard he was a champion of the game, bigger than Carey? Greatest captain since Mark Messier? Please - OUR Nick played a...
Amen - Sepultura (surely written for The Anvil)
"Forgive me Father,
Forgive me God,
I know I have sinned
with no remorse
Apocalyptic visions
Went through my head here today"
Giddy - up!
This. We certainly had no fit players - they were injured on the bench. Also McKenna and Tuddy were injured in a massive second quarter collision but, due to no bench space, were forced to play out the game on the field. McKenna had kicked 5 to half time before being injured so it'd be pretty...
Matty, Pricey, I'm with you! What we do to those handbaggers this week will go down in Collingwood folklore! Finally the lads have grown and we have the big and hard bodies, not the boys v men scenario it's been the last few years. It's going to be beautiful :-)
I'm pretty sure, in the lead-up to the 2002 GF, Eddie said he'd do something similar. Give a Collingwood Premiership Medallion (Colligwood sanctioned, not AFL sanctioned) to every player on the list who'd played a minimum set number of games across the season.
Ah guys, I'm so excited! Yeah Dawes didn't play his best game, sure, and needs to start handing out squirrel grips to get his hands stronger but man, we have a game plan that matches it with the best in the comp. Macaffer screw up a few times but when you mix it with the best you're going to...
Those guys were awesome. My brother and I were sitting closer to the goals and did our bit but couldn't keep up - they were impressive :) We did sing the club song at the final siren loud and proud though. We turned it into a pretty good night :)
Always stay to the end. The boys have to - so do I. And I laughed at the Geelong weenies in the next bay who didn't start singing and cheering until they were 8 goals up. Gutless. I'll take it as a sign of respect that they feel they need an 8-goal lead before the game is safe ;-)
Geelong. The natural order needs to be restored with St.Kilda at the bottom bleating and wasting space. I want the only image of their only GF win to be Darrel Baldock holding the cup aloft and wearing a Collingwood jumper - eat it Saints!
We've had a pretty tough run to date and if we win it, no-one can say we didn't deserve it. Dogs, Saints, Crows, Cats and Saints? 8 straight quarters of man-on-man contested footy? If one group can do it it's a bunch of boys who don't know any better. Either way, earlier in the year it generally...
It'd be wicked to have Clarke back :) It's going to be a tough few weeks but it'll be pretty sweet to see Nick (MAXWELL - edited for accuracy!) hold the cup aloft knowing we've done it tough and proper, not hoping for things to fall our way or teams to fall over :)
