Petracca was a standout in the juniors and battled big time in his first year or 2 in AFL training - he was criticised for lack of fitness and speed.
Give the kid a bit of time - if he takes a few years to come on it will be perfect timing with Trac, Clarry and Viney moving on.
Yeh I got sucked in but I’m actually thinking it’s not without a chance. We are surely going to be better next year and I reckon we can play finals.
I’m not sold on Carlton either. They could easily struggle if they get off to a poor start. Totally agree with what schmuttt said - they have some...
My money is on Clarry and Trac to both be at the Dees for another year - it will be the game plan that will get Goody if it doesn’t go well this year.
I took a bet with a Blues supporter that we’d finish above them but I’m nervous.. it’s a big bet.

Still reckon we ideally need another quality...
The private schools need to probably develop some sort of indigenous pathway program, if they havnt already.
They basically go handing out scholarships to kids who are decent at footy which are worth a fortune these days with school fees up north of $40k per year for some schools.
It would be...
I’d like to see us play from further back behind the ball, move it faster through the corridor and play with a smaller forward line and give them more room to move into. I’d also like to see us have a plan B where we slow the game down when the opposition have momentum. A few early wins could do...
I totally agree that he wasn’t the worst selection in hindsight, but that doesn’t help where he’s at right now.
I can’t see him being any more than shallow depth for another 2 or 3 years at best.
Bloody hope I’m wrong of course!
I wonder whether the club is thinking about trading in a ruck when Gawn starts fading, and maybe a KPP for the same reasons as you suggest - they take longer to develop.
We did it with May and Lever but had to cough up a lot.
Small forwards have become very important in the modern game. I know...
If we can find a couple more good quality young talls, a small forward and a ruck (potentially Verrall) before Tassie come in then we’ll be pretty well placed.
Was just very introverted apparently.
Was hard to get much out of him.
I didn’t care about that - my issue was his low average possession counts. He got goals but only ever touched it 8-9 times per game.
Just too similar to Jefferson frankly.
Really happy with both picks.
Time will tell now, how good they can be but we’ve certainly taken a strong mix of the types of young players we need I reckon.
Would be wrapped with that outcome.
Here is my rough order of preference, including the academy/father son options;
Ashcroft
FOS
Langford
Lalor
Draper
Lombard
Lindsay
Allen
Tauru
Hotton
Travaglia
Armstrong
Reid
If they are keen on changing the game plan, we will need more runners.
I’m a big fan of Langford for our first pick (who isn’t fast), so would be happy with any of Lindsay, Travaglia, Hotton, Allen with pick 9.
Someone on D’Land said that Jason Taylor presented at a corporate gig or whatever at the Australia Club a few days ago and told the crowd Melbourne would be taking 2 midfielders this year.
