Dunkley has taken a back seat and become a role player practically.
Green is a 22 year old with unbelievable ability and power at the moment. The shelf life of a Tom green is sadly about 5 years till he becomes useless
Like everything in life things evolve and right at this moment in 2024 on the dawn of a brand new season are we seeing big bodied mids go the way of the dinosaur? For years we have seen big bodied mids put on the top the mountain for recruiting and trading but now it seems in a twist the game...
Not his fault at all but seriously could we draft a first rounder that actually has kicking as a strength? I understand it’s not the be and end all but just one would be nice
Tsatas, Hobbs, Perkins, Shiel, McGrath, Parish all mids drafted with 1st or had first round picks used on them and not a...
Love this point and agree completely. While having a superstar defender is nice I always feel team defence wins premierships and big finals and a lot of those involve key defenders that have either been failed forewords cheaper congrats defenders or lowly drafted
I hope I’m clear when I say that key defenders can be found from anywhere mostly from outside the first round and on little money. These players are system based and look a lot better in better teams obviously.
Brian Lake was amazing but also a pick in the 60s origanlly
Dance a father son so given more time Grimes a pre season pick up that took 5 years to get going.
Harry Taylor was a mature age draftee.
Tom Lonergan was a failed forward that got a second life in defence and Sam De Kooning had a great breakout last year but would be in the top 15 key defenders in the comp
Since 2010 this is some of the key defender drafted in the first round
Seb Tape
Matthew Watson
Lachie plowman
Kristin Jacksch
Aidan Corr
Matthew Scharenberg
Caleb marchbank
Sam Durdin
Aaron Francis
Griffin logue
Aidan bonar
Fisher Mcasey
Brodie Kemp
Denver Granger Barass
Nik Cox
Zach Reid...
Just a good one to ponder a lot of talk in the media and wider community is that as long as you have a competent ruck it’s all that matters but are key defenders the same?
Obviously like rucks there are exceptions like max Gawn and Sean Darcy who are match winners on there day. Same can be said...
Was anyone else 100 percent certain he would miss that set shot today? Just has no match winning ability and will be a perennial b grader a Jarryd geary type captain coming up but without the heart
In fairness was never known as a burst player even at gws is and always will be your first hands at the clearance coalfaxe almost libba esque. His talents are his hands his aggressiveness and his cleanliness. If given the chance like last night showed just how good he can be at it
This definitely feels like the season we get one though those high possession mids getting a lot more marks around the ground and hopefully in June July those tackles soar. My money is on Neale to do it this year. Butters a sneaky chance as well
Yeah that is true but from her point of view she would back herself to win final two against George and flick and both of them more than likely take here there if she doesn’t win. Smartest play IMO
Nah right move was going with George. Gives her best chance of going final 2 if flick wins challenges. If cara was there flick takes cara without a second thought
