Trade week and the 'Wild West' of Facebook Marketplace aren't that different, from the endless "is he available?" queries, the time-wasting "no shows" and the insulting low ballers. Still, I sold a car yesterday in 2 hours so anything is possible in the marketplace.
In the 20-30 range, Henry Hustwaite (midfield) and Harry Barnett (ruckman) look like the kind of players that we might one day regret not going after. HH is a left-footer with natural midfield composure and HB can clunk a mark and kick goals. I'll watch their careers with interest.
I agree but I'd like to think that with a small crowd there will be a bit of latitude about where you can actually sit once you're inside. I stress "a bit" as I equally expect officious stewards to declare most areas off limits. In any event, I don't think it will be a sell out.
Who should the Hawks make a play for? Another player not mentioned above.
Endlessly cycling through TOB/Schoey/Lewis in order to "create a contest" in the forward line doesn't appear to be working too well. A few actual marks would be nice.
Paying mega$$$ for a single player makes me uneasy...
I think that I have either the 88 (or possibly 86) and 89 GFs on VHS, recorded from Sydney TV. However, as I haven't had a Video Player in years, I'm not really sure what's on them. Is it worthwhile that I head into the dungeon and look for them?
I've seen some nice ideas in this thread, here's my contribution. The epaulettes are stylised hawk talons, 3 at the front, 1 at the back. Continuing the sweep of the hawks head is an obvious modification but it would break the 70% white rule.
I remember seeing Paul Kelly fronting up at Bunnings by himself early on a bleak Saturday morning to demonstrate handballs to pretty much nobody. Don't knock Paul Kelly, he was all heart.
Very possible is Richmond beating 8th place (Port/Carlton) and then a damaged Swans to see them reach a PF. Less likely but not impossible is for them to get over Geelong for a place in the GF.
It's time for a grand gesture. At training, get a chainsaw and cut down the behind posts.
Philosophically and psychologically, the existence of behind posts in our game suggest that failure IS an option. That one point is an OK 'consolation prize' and better luck next time.
Cut 'em down...
I have a question about set shots for goal, particularly after the siren:
Can a player 'arc' in their run up as long as they ultimately kick directly over the mark? i.e.. not stray to the goal side of the mark.
I recently bought the 1975 "dark before the dawn" GF at JB HiFi here in Sydney. The 1976 and 1978 GFs should also be available. Lots of Knights action in there (if you don't have them already).
No flies on Lou, but I'm pretty sure that "Hawthorn's Magnificent Mean Machine" was used around the mid to late seventies. The original "The Longest Yard" was released a little before that, hence the reference.
So, reading over recent threads it's sack the coach, sack the medical staff, sack the recruiters, delist the players and now tank for draft picks. There are wins coming our way very soon.
If this is the thread for putting up your hand for your team and coach, count me in – I'm a believer (especially before the pessimists start tearing it down).
