Yeah fair call. I guess when that comment was made I wasn't aware of the alleged $70k that's been tipped in and was surprised that people were tipping Glenrowan to improve so much. Now that we've been told about the $70k boost the predictions make a bit more sense.
As I said though, I was...
After seeing Glenrowan first hand on Saturday I just wanted to say how impressed I was. They have improved out of sight compared to last year. I'm not sure what the comment above "Glenrowan beat Bonnie Doon against the odds" is in regards to, the lead changed several times during the game and...
So go back to the B&D where Bonnie Doon won the last flag by 100+ points? No thanks.
The B&D was a joke the last three years and there was 25 goal drubbings every week. It was very hard to attract players as they viewed the B&D as a crap league. In every league you are going to have easybeats...
We have lost a few and gained a few. At this stage I think we have lost more quality than we have gained. I'm not having a go at Glenrowan, good luck to any club that can get some big recruits and shoot up the ladder. I do however have an issue with people just grouping the ex B&D clubs together...
Not sure why there is all this talk about the ex B&D clubs being uncompetitive. Bonnie Doon has played finals in two of its three seasons and came close to making the GF in 2010 with a good showing against a determined Tarra in the Prelim. Admittedly we were poor last year due to some major...
Yeah agree with everything there slim, Walshy wasn't going to play this year hasn't trained once this season and filled in for the twos last week, wheels conned him and Matt Vasey (first game for the year and no training also) to play in the seniors because we were so short. I think we had 8...
Yeah you're right slim, injuries are no excuse but we have a heap at the moment. Playing a lot of seconds blokes who have stood up for us and been great but it's a battle. We can look ok at times with 10 or so good players but after that we battle. Get a few back next week so we can hopefully...
I was standing right in the middle of the blokes yelling out with my wife and two young boys, I know what I saw and there was no where near 50. Not condoning what was done just trying to keep it real, also you were the ones bringing up "abuse being hurled at Moyhu players" I was just explaining...
Free agent, let's keep it factual mate. The abuse at the umpire on Saturday at Doon was from seven people, let's not throw things like "mob" and "50 drunken blokes" it just makes the issue even uglier. Also their was stuff yelled out to one Moyhu player who I believe is Jeremy Wilson, took a...
Haha "serenity stadium" love it! Yeah hopefully we can give them a good game.and your right, not even enough room for a footy side in our rooms let alone anything extra! Hopefully a reno is not too far away!
Thanks Slim, we have only played them twice in two years, both times at Milawa and both times they have belted us by over 100 points!! Hopefully we can get a little closer to them at home!
Is anyone heading over to Doon on Friday to see the dogs take on Milawa? We are expecting a pretty big crowd so hopefully that's the case.
And how are Milawa looking? Can we expect another belting from them or have they lost a few?
I believe so Slim, I certainly haven't heard any whispers that they won't. I am sure if they looked like folding then I would have heard because we would have had an influx of players coming over to Doon from Alex. Dozer (Kelallea) was from Thorton-Eildon if I recall correctly and they folded...
Yeah, you usually find one crafty old bloke in an opposition forward line so that's who I usually go to haha. I steer clear of the 18 year olds on and off the field ;)
Yeah Dozer was never in doubt, he loves Doon and Doon love him!
Lewis is a very handy forward, I would say that he is in the top 3 forwards in the league. I'm not convinced he would be 6'2, maybe closer to 6'0 or 6'1 at a stretch. He does not look like a full forward and would often get pegged as a forward pocket or HFF size but he can play out of the square...
Yeah Wheels will be a great coach, he will be very focused on fitness which will be a bit of a change for Doon. I'm not looking forward to doing a pre-season under him which starts on Monday. Yeah it's interesting that Dunne and the crew are back, I think with the team that is being built they...
Yeah it is definitely a pity to lose them, however they didn't play a lot of games last year due to injuries and a lack of passion. I think it was something like this. Dunne (8), Fletcher (5), Rowbo (4) and Webster (10). You need your star players playing more than that, there were too many...
I would highly doubt it slim. The Broadford boys (Dunne, Fletcher, Webster, Rowbottom) have done 2 more years than they said they would already. All of them are 32+ now with families and are probably looking at getting away from footy. Rowbo breaking his leg last year and missing a lot of work...
Yeah I did hear that Glenelg is the place to be on a Sunday, will definitely be doing that. Going on a fishing charter on the Friday afternoon but other than that I think it will just be the Cas or pubs around Rundle street.
