Re: (08/09) Superbowl XLIII: Arizona vs Pittsburgh

It is not all the Refs. The roughing the passer was there and you cannot run over the holder after the ball has been kicked. They will be flagged EVERY day of the week.

That roughing the passer call was bs. roughing the holder wasn't. There has to be some common sense in the refereeing..and roughing the passer is one of those where a ref needs to use some nous. Its a broken play with a QB outside the pocket, the ability for a defender to see whether a guy has thrown before he commits is much less than a Qb sitting stationary in the pocket.

This is where Defensive awareness plays a huge role.

I dont agree with it, but it will allways be flagged when you hit the QB AFTER he has off loaded the ball. It was a close one but it was there. It has been called all year like that. Love it or Loathe it the QBs are protected and cheap shots are not tolerated.

The roughing the passer call was there. You cant hit the QB late after he has gotten rid of the ball. It was a close one but you will allways flirt with the flag when the D does that.

Warner has been getting put on his ass late after he's passed all game

You don't get flagged everytime a Qb gets hit after he offloads. In this very game Warner has been hit several times after throwing, but the ref used his head to decide that the defender was already committed. As for a cheap shot, there was no malicious head-shot or smashing him into the turf, thats what the rule is designed to remove. Have you ever tried stopping to tackle a QB when you are already committed? Much easier said than done.

Warner has been hit "While" throwing. There is a big difference.

Your second point i am not debating and i agree it is very hard. That is the Difference between the 2 teams defences , Pittsburgh are No1 in the NFL and Arizona are well under them for a reason. Knowing when to hit and what you can and cant get away with. Steelers D are great in this area hence their No 1 spot.

god how much is pitsburg paying this ref!!

can someone explain WTF imcompleate means

Incomplete is when you go to throw a pass, and it's not caught.

So say the QB throws to somebody who jumps to catch but drops, it's an incomplete pass.

great plays there...surprised there are not a few more safety valves to the RB's..help dilute that pass rush
