Same. Never quite hit his stride with us outside of a bit of a purple patch but he never once dropped his head, turned up whether training, VFL or seniors and put in every single time. Good leader, good role model IMO. Thanks.

At times felt like he wasn't given as much of a go as he deserved and could have been used to protect some of the younger mids. But the plan is obviously to go young and he wasn't going to be there when we move up the ladder.

It's baffled me a bit how he wasn't being given games this year when we really could have used a mature leader. Sad that he goes out without a farewell game.

Sealed the win for us last year when he rucked against the Eagles after Xerri went down. Laid a huge tackle in the dying seconds to seal the game too.

Always be remembered for being a tough nut and inside machine.

Strangely other blokes are played over youth for their nominal leadership but Hugh copped the short straw from the selectors.

Unless he gained a yard in the year since I last really saw him, then I think his footspeed is the issue. Primary position is in the guts where we have some established younger blokes and some second year players going pretty damn well, so any other position is going to expose his pace even worse.

The few games he did play weren't anything special either (other than his tackling).

It's a shame his career is ending this way. Lovely bloke, and gives his all.

When we are calling out for experience and leadership plus the tackling aspects he brings to his game he should have been played more this year. Play him in in the final game I say for a proper send off. We dont have much else to play for at the moment to finish the year off now.

Great cultural piece, outstanding citizen thorough professional. Hopefully the work he’s doing with the W program keeps him around a little longer and he can work at the club in some capacity. Unconditionally gave it his all.
