Bit of difference between a 26-27 y.o Drew and a 32-33 y.o Drew. If we rely on either of those two to be the sole ruck it screws over our forward line.

33 as of about a fortnight ago.

relying on him to ruck out a game would be dicey, I mean yeah he could probably do it, but he'd be providing a contest and not a lot more.

I shudder to think what it would be like with him starting as ruck for chunks of a season.

Harper joins Scott McMahon, Max Warren and American rookie Eric Wallace as departures, while Nathan Grima and Leigh Adams have retired and Ryan Bastinac and Daniel Currie were traded.

Meh, not much there to get excited about. All had to go.

Petrie would have been AA ruck if Sandi and Cox didn't have excellent years. His foot injuries put an end to that though and it'd be risking relying on him to feel that void.

Geelong didn't break the 'Gentleman's agreement', which is that if a club delists a player with a long term injury they will be let slide to the first round of the rookie draft. North decided to gamble and try and get Delaney with their second/third round rookie draft pick, and the gamble didn't pay off.
making the rules up as you go along.

There is no doubt we badly need to bolster our ruck stocks, however can you advise what scraps of Norths we have sniffed.
Rawlings, Power, Higgins, Keenan Reynalds Bulldogs to North
Scott Wynd, Libba & Jose Romero from North to us

Not sure Daw is our type and if North have an agreement to take him as a rookie clubs would be wary of stepping in

Do your supporters just hang around our board waiting?

Either that or you've all developed a 6th sense.

We desperately need ruck depth and have a very young list so tend to view any potential DFAs with a little bit of worry. We took a kid who was delisted from Hawthorn last year as a rookie who looked nowhere near it.

I'm not saying he wouldn't be a good recruit for the dogs.

I think he'd be a better option than redpath. Ruck/forward that would benefit from dogs fast movement.

Don't agree with this as a list management decision at all.

Can only be that the court case is a very big factor or we have a couple of DFAs lined up.

We now have now backup ruckman unless you count you count a kid for Queensland with less game sense than the bloke we just delisted.

If Majak is all clear post-trial it'll be interesting how this supposed rookie gentlemen's agreement panned out. As is well documented it really went well with Cam Delaney.

This board severely overrates Daw. He shows glimpses of brilliance but 95% of the game he's no good. Never seen someone run under the ball so often.
he's better than any ruck outside of Goldy on the list.
Playing a rookie like Durdin in the ruck would be madness. Preuss can't jump. Drew is too old. Brown has already had one knee reco and hasn't had a preseason yet due to knee injuries....

So if Goldy goes down we go to.... Preuss?

I get what you're saing but when you think about it...

If the club's assessment (whether we agree with it or not) is that losing Goldy for a substantial period of the year = no chance at a Premiership anyway then does it really matter?

Maybe the risk is worth it and no doubt they will be looking for backup either way / intending to rookie Daw.

That would be a pretty shit assessment, Goldy starring hasn't got us over the line in some games, we live or die by team effort.

While it would be a disaster to lose Goldy for any length of time, our relying on Goldy running a marathon every week with no respite is going to be the reason why he might be exposed to breaking down and might cut his career short. It is poor management, honestly.

We know he needs to play a lot of the game in the ruck to keep his mojo up, but he should be rested off early in games we dominate against lesser opposition and we should have a viable second ruckman in the team, Petrie and Brown are useless in the ruck, we might as well have Boomer go up.
