rick's not an idiot. He's quite smart and has a good sense of humour.

Unfortunatly for him, he has a musical ear of comparability to Kevin Federline. Download some KF tracks if ya wanna know what I mean.

I see it as a disease.

hahaha nah, I stir a bit on this board, but it's actually my favourite one, lots of good posters here with varying tastes. I just have to accept that some people aren't blessed with an ear for quality like I am.

I like 10,000 days, it's decent. And if it were any other band like Tool I'd think it was better, it's just hard not to think that it's still the worst tool album I've ever heard.

definitely dont buy it then. tool is not for you.

I was a MASSIVE Tool fan through high school.
I have seen them live twice and loved them.
I have everything up until this new release.
I just 'grew out' of the albums and my taste in music changed slightly.
If the album is really good then I might get back into it but I am not sure.
To say Tool is not for me is a bit silly since I own the albums I mentioned. Why would I buy them all if I didnt like them??

I'm on your side, but...

Just because you bought something doesn't mean you like it, I found the following cd's in my collection last weekend:

Snow - 12 inches of snow (that's right, i didn't just get informer, the single, i bought his whole album, how ghey)
Sonia Dada - you don't treat me no good no more (single)

Sad huh.

Haha Snow was the ****!

I agree but if I brought 4 albums of the same band....
I would be pretty dumb to make the same mistake 4 times.

Luckily for me snow overdosed before he could release a second album, otherwise I might own TWO snow albums.

Hey, at one point in my life i owned Jimmy Barnes' Soul Deep album and (this one should really make you laugh in particular) i also owned * gulp * (i cant believe i'm about to post this..) a Colour Me Badd album!!

I rarely part with any of my cd purchases as i think they're a great time captule, but these 2 were forced to find a new home via Cash Converters.

I can beat it:

Sam Newman - I do my best work after midnight

You should beat yourself. Many times.

I didn't buy it, Catfish Jake ran a short story competition on TLC, I won.

The prize was, a CFJ miscellaneous burnt cd (was actually really good), Motorace - Shoot This (ghey) and the aforementioned Sam Newman tragedy (uber-ghey) which served a s a brilliant present for my mother, who has no rhythm or love of music, but loves Sam Newman. Was a perfect fit.

Muff Warhurst said that there is some exciting Tool news to be announced on Jay & The Doctor tomorrow morning.

I have some exciting tool related news I would like to announce to Myff. Probably best done in the morning, also.

oooh harsh...

now onto Tool:
The drumming is nothing special, pretty generic sounding to me.

Maynard is a pretentious ********. People who think they are all smart and deep just eat that stuff up though. No doubt the names of their songs will be some ********y bull******** and their videos will look like they were made by some 15 year old stoner in media studies class.

Now the guitar, tune down to D, buy a chorus pedal, repeat ad nauseum. I don't get why people think that's so amazing, and how they've gotten away with playing the same slowed-down quicksand riff for like a zillion songs/records/years.

Pretty much the only people who ride Tool's nuts were in highschool 5-6 years ago, had dreadlocks, dubious facial hair and an eyebrow piercing....

agreed.

Consider myself a Tool fan, love Aenima and Lateralus (although I hafta say I find myself listening to APC FAR more than those 2 albums), but I've listened to the new one over and over and I just can't get into it AT ALL. It has some MOMENTS, but absolutely no great songs at all, to my ear. I believe they've lost it, even though their musicianship is still top notch. It's disapointing. I won't bother going to see them, and I won't be buying their next album (when it comes out in 2011), most likely....

Funny to hear such varying opinions on the new album!

Definitely touring, with the only date I managed to record being Melbourne 31st January 2007 and the Sidney Myer Music Bowl.

I hope they ain't planning on having Moonlight Cinema that night! :D

Around Big Day Out time too.

FFS. Kid is due on the 3rd of Feb, likely to come early. I ****en knew this would happen. Little bastard will have to wait.

Jam, thoughts on the Myer Music Bowl as a venue?

Never ever been there!

Been living in Melbourne since 1994, and have just never been for whatever reason. I like the sound of an outdoor concert in the peak of summer keeping the city of Melbourne awake on a school night.

Summerdayze, only with decent music! :D

Saw Pearl Jam there in 95, Midnight Oil years ago as well as having been to numerous Summerdayze.

Great atmosphere if the weather is right. It wouldn't want to be windy though, as the sound will suck big time. Suprised Tool is risking it as from what i've read, they arent too keen on outdoor shows. Not to mention the fact that so much of their show is based around the visual stuff. Should be a pretty late start by the time they take the stage i'd be thinking.

Interesting its so close to the BDO too....

This album still isn't doing it for me.

But will probably go to the show if I remember to buy tickets.

No tickets for NorthBhoy either. If I don't get to this gig I might just burn this city to the ground.

Sold out sunshine.

What I don't understand is that one Census night, hundreds of thousands of people filled in a census online for no problem, and yet Ticketmaster, who has a Census like influx every other day, can't build a website which doesn't **** itself?!!!???!

Not all of us can down tools for work and go and hang out at a ****en booth!
