Not everyone shares the same opinion. But no doubt it’ll be people like you calling people like me soft or what not for having that opinion. I think Maynard is a dog and that’s that. You either get serious about concussion or not. Unfortunately that’ll totally change the game of AFL.
You can have your opinion, its just wrong. You'd know that if you played the game.

Never ever have I seen an attempted smother end up with a concussed player. Maynard was hardly a clean player going into that game.
Yeah, not everyone is like you and Neo from the matrix and can make the right decision and dodge contact in a split second, some of us have natural reactions to protect ourselves in mid air and brace for contact. I think he should have been suspended coz he left his feet and knocked someone else out, if a grand final wasn't on the horizon im sure he'd have been given at least two weeks. I just get annoyed at people thinking he had time to think it thru and it was some sort of intentional a dog act. Clearly havent played the game if you believe that.

Not sure what a GF coming up has anything to do with it.

Tribunal more likely to let someone off for something they'd suspend someone for during the season, happens often.

Ive played many years of football and still believe what Maynard did was intentional at best careless

Careless, sure. Intentional, na. Always taught to brace for contact by tucking in. Game has changed now to where you probably shouldn't teach that but its hard to break habits you've done since you were a kid in a split second.

I very much doubt there's anywhere near that cap space. I would guess Brayshaw was on $700k, Brown $500k, McDonald $400k at most - and from what I understand, a portion of Gus' contract will be under the cap, but it's up to the AFL to decide how much.

Petty isn't thinking about leaving for money. He wants to be closer to family. Won't matter what we offer if he wants to go.
from what I recall, Tom Mcdonald was on 700k this year because his contract was back ended.

I think its a bit weird to constantly be upset that club supporters have biased emotional takes about something like this.
Nah if you know it's biased then why continue to do it. If Gus didn't already have major concussion issues he would have been fine after that incident.

this really sucks. Brayshaw was respected my just about everyone in the AFL. I felt the smother was a deliberate act to bump and he should have been suspended but they took advantage of the loophole. Anyway thats old news however if it happened to a collingwood player they would all be screaming blue murder! Watch them boo Ginnivan now that he is a hawk, especially when he draws a high free :D Hypocrits!

Jack Viney knocked out an Eagles player contesting a footy jumping in the air
Our own club posted this obviously pretty happy with it at the time

Just bloody move on, having a whinge about it 6 months later is so pointless

Beautiful stuff from Vines, brings a tear to my eye, what a game he played that night...

Devastating for Gus. Must be very hard to finish up with so much left in the tank, but he isn’t the first to do so.

He can be proud of playing an influential role on the biggest stage and helping to break a 57 year premiership drought. Not a bad career highlight at all.

A long career in the AFL industry awaits if he chooses and a lifetime member of The Wingers Club.

I know concussion has ultimately cost him the rest of his career. We kind of knew that one bad incident would be enough to maybe end it. There was always that risk after the early battles

Downright impressive though from the earlier ones he was able to continue playing a get a good patch accident free years in there. There where times i thought in 2017 he might have given it away. Even when he came back against St Kilda that year, he was smashed in a content and the whole crowd went quiet but came out okay

167 games at AFL level is impressive with all that stuff early on. Even though the final one ended the career, I'll never not be amazed at how he was able to overcome what he was faced with early days. Just like I'm still amazed he went back with the flight of the ball in a grand final, that was more impressive than the goal he ended up kicking (which was clutch).

167 games though with all those set backs is as good as just over 200+ to me
