Player Watch #10: Colby McKercher - R9 AFL RS nom - goes bang w/ 37d on his return vs GCS

I still feel like his first season was slept on a bit, statically it's up there with Ashcroft/Daicos/Sheezel's first years. Sure he got a bit of cheap footy across half back, but you still have to be in the right place to get it! If half back were that easy every first year player would be racking up 25+ across half back, but it's simply not the case. His confidence to break the game open and provide drive was incredible for a first year player. His upside is ridiculous, especially once he fills out and breaks tackles like he did in juniors.

A fair chunk of his turnovers were him trying to create something with a whole lot of stagnant team-mates around him.

Yeah he took the game on and clearly had licence to.

If you had plonked him into a good side and system his first year would be being talked about way more.

Also Reid having the purple patch sparked the whole "North stuffed up and by extension Colby is shit" dumb arsery

He would be talked about as the best young player in the comp (other than Sheezel).
