True, but you could say that of nearly all our players. Especially this year. While I agree with most of this, Edwards isnt immune to going missing like most of our players imo.

Agree with everything, but Martin starts ahead of titch in the middle of the ground IMOHe's our best stoppage midfielder by a mile. Does all the little things, fires out all the unseen handballs and still collects a fair share of clearances. On top of that he is highly creative and doesn't go missing when the heats on, (Watch the last 5-10 minutes of the Essendon game.) Someone said before that he is part of the "second rotation" of midfielders. I'm pretty sure the club see Edwards, Miles and Cotchin as the best 3 midfielders to have at the center bounce.
Martin in his earlier seasons was an inside machine, but especially last year, his game was highly based around his run and carry and damage with disposal. Dustin only averaged 0.5 center clearances a game this year. I believe he is far more preferred on a wing or a half forward, running into the center circle when the ball is bounced.Agree with everything, but Martin starts ahead of titch in the middle of the ground IMO
I agree with you ,But i think that we should be actually using him more in the starting midfield for roughly 20-25% of the time, He has a big strong body and also has a football brain and knows how to get the ball and make best use of it.Martin in his earlier seasons was an inside machine, but especially last year, his game was highly based around his run and carry and damage with disposal. If Dusty can't run out games, how come he's always winning games for us in the last minute?
When he was used in the centre square the Tigers had a centre clearance differential of +11.3% - the best rate of any midfielder at the club.
I wonder if us running Cogs into the ground has us ultra cautious about playing kids in the guts too much too soonMartin in his earlier seasons was an inside machine, but especially last year, his game was highly based around his run and carry and damage with disposal. Don't think so, see Miles.I wonder if us running Cogs into the ground has us ultra cautious about playing kids in the guts too much too soon
Miles had a couple of years under his belt before he came to the club, probably the only role he's suited to play as wellDon't think so, see Miles.

I doubt the club sees any more development coming out of Miles. As he is relatively slow, the only position he can possibly play is inside midfielder and would probably be a liability anywhere else on the ground.Don't think so, see Miles.

The development left in Miles is more likely in just getting better at what he does, and doing it for longer.I think the role 'inside midfielder' has the shortest career lifespan out of all positions. These players are taking an absolute bashing every game and all the little hits really do accumulate and take a toll on the body. See Jackson, Ball who retired this year at early ages and even a legend like Judd started declining when he should have been hitting his prime. Players like Selwood, Dangerfield and even Cotchin are the exact same and need to be managed so that their careers aren't cut short.
The club understands this. Hence they use rookie picks on players like Miles, Thomas, Lambert who were simply thought of as tools to take the hits and protect our stars from the rigors of the game when they were picked up. Our 'protected' inside midfielders, (Vlastuin, Conca, Martin) are being phased out into other positions and only given minimal time in the midfield in order to squeeze every single last drop we can out of their careers.

He is actually very good at it, but needs to more of it.In 2014 I was surprised by Shane's marking which became a feature. Did quite well against taller opponents as well.
LOL - there is enough Sheds quality for all to enjoy! He's mine and rfctigerarmy's. So get in line and enjoy this blokes talents. Is an out and out gun now
